Food Poisoning

Featured Replies

This is hell.  12 hours on the bathroom floor, no energy, can't sleep.

Wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

If you want to feel better then eat a couple scrambled eggs, sausage gravy/biscuits and some stuffed cabbage.

Seriously though, I hope you feel.  Food poison sucks.  Not to make you think of it but what was it you ate?

Had Food Poisoning Wednesday Night and Thursday Morning. Didn't feel 100% until Friday morning when I woke up. It wasn't a real bad case. Only threw up 3 times. Yeah it sucked pretty bad. Hope you feel better. Mine was from Homemade Baked Ziti with meatballs.

What exactly did you eat?  And how long before the first wave hit?  Most food Poisonings are not really food poisoning but the bodies reaction to something that didn't agree with it.  i.e. spice reaction, food alergy etc.  Actual food poisoning will occur no earlier than about 4-6 hours after consuming a tainted food.  Fever, stomach cramps, severe vomiting, diarhea, and headaches will occur.  Depending on a parasite or a viral infection will usually dictate the length and severity of the sickness.  Actual poisoning will occur when a raw food or cooked food  :-[ :-X is left in the danger zone of 41-140 for more than 4 hours.  Bacteria growth will begin to double and triple for every hour left out in that temperature window.

Good Luck buddy.  drink lots of fluid and stay hydrated.....

Worst case I ever had was salmonilla. I lost 4 days of my life that I'll never get back. I won't get into the gory details, but suffice to say, it was ug-ly!

So I feel for ya, Skunked. And you're right - would wish it on your worst enemy.

....just wait until you have a kidney stone. You'll think this was a walk in the park!

I'm alive and feeling about 90%.

Pretty sure it was from some Monkfish on Saturday night.

Glenn - you can keep your kidney stones.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'VE BEEN THERE.

Ahh Monkfish, aka. the poor mans lobster tail.

The monkfish is very prone to carry small parasites.  If the fish is not cooked thoroughly you are in for a WILD ride.   Sorry bud.

On a separate note, Monkfish is fantastic when grilled and served with a lemon wedge and some drawn butter.  Just like a lobster tail..

I  had salmonella from under cooked chicken and it sucks bad. I did not go to the doctors right away which made it worse. I have had my share of stitches, broken bones and so on and this was one of the most painful things I have endured. My advise is do not wait if you have the symptoms. Like Glenn I will spare the details.

Another time I got food poisoning from pot stickers that were not cooked well enough. Got hospitalized on that one. I was working in 125 deg temps and it kicked in when I got home. I dehydrated in a matter of an hour or so. Had bad muscle spasms and even blacked out part of the time. Took three liters of IV to get me hydrated again. Its kinda like being real drunk. You don't remember a dam thing. I guess I made quite the seen so I have been told. Poor women and children in the waiting room.

I had it bad once, apparently I can't tell the difference between good/bad pickled eggs :-[. I passed out at work, got an ambulance ride, and a stomach pumping for that one.

First date with my (now) wife over 20 years ago. Ate a bad clam. Destroyed the delicate little powder room in her parents house several hours later after the restaurant when it kicked in. What they must have thought ::)

Oh, and Glenn, got my first and hopefully last kidney stone several weeks ago on vacation. My first ambulance ride too, as I had no idea what was happening. I thought my appendix exploded or something. That's a whole other level of pain there.
