Just gonna do some venting.

Sooooooo, The Lions game today, If you haven't seen it you have probably heard about it.

Calvin Johnson (one of the best, if not THE best WR) jumps above some dudes.

Catches the ball.

Lands on two feet.

Falls to the ground, his butt and left hand touch the ground.

Ball touches ground.

CJ leaves the ball on the ground and celebrates (rightfully so).

The ref closest to CJ calls it a touchdown and then goes to the booth for review and is called incomplete.

BULL

BULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.

Any little kid that has ever played two hand touch, would know that is a fair catch! I just couldn't believe it. First im yelling woo hoo! Then im yelling ****. Just crap, the rule is crap, the refs are crap, and anybody who thinks this was a good and fair ruling is crap.

Here is the story:

I was feeling the same way. He had so much control of that ball that the only other thing he could have done with it before he "dropped" it was spin it atop his finger.

Totally robbed.

Any self respecting Bear on that sideline should have campaigned to forego the review and lined up to receive the Lions' kickoff. The Lions won that game today.

I could understand if while on the way down, the ball fell out of his hands, and onto the ground. But even if he had one hand on it, HE HAD HIS HAND ON IT. He had control of it. All the way to the ground. Should CJ had taken the ball back to the sideline? Back to Detroit? Out to dinner?

Dont feel to bad, I think my Bears and your Lions will be trading places in the standings this season.  However, you are right, its crap, but I gotta take what I can get..... :-[ :'(

There are a whole bunch of stupid rules in every sport, that just happens to be one of them. I bet CJ wont do that ever again. Lesson learned.

I knowit may look like he got robbed....but he didnt.  It was a good call.

Every coach should be telling those players to "HOLD ON TO THAT DANG BALL!" in practice drills.

It was a good call.....might be a stupid rule, but they get paid enough money to follow those stupid rules.I know i would be if i was making a couple of million dollars a year.

Definitely the right call.  It sucks, but it was the right call by the rules.  That's one rule that really needs to get changed.

You guys are right.  Just a dumb rule.  We all know he caught that ball, but the rules say he didn't.

Bad call, both feet in the end zone and had control.

I have been a hardcore Lions fans in the stands and on tv well over 50 years, longer on radio, the Lions always find away to lose, either by stupid plays, hardluck or devastating injuries.

We beat the hell out of the Vikings in the 60's only to lose just about every game in the last few seconds. Who kicks a 63 yd field goals, Tom Dempsey from the worst NFL team that year ( New Orleans), any one remember Chuck Hughes?

Needless to say the poorest and worst managed franchise in all of professional sports, to think we passed on Don Shula, I wonder if Russ Thomas was happy with that decision.

You saw something I didn't see I guess. When he came down half the football was touching the ground. What would you say if he came down and he had 2 fingers on the ball, but the ground supported the other half? Is that a touchdown?

He caught the ball with 2 hands and both feet on the ground and had control, then controlled the ball with one hand, play should have been over at that point with a touchdown.  Had that play occurred in the field it would have been a fumble as he would have tried to advance the ball, but in the endzone advancement is not the issue but control.

Personally I never liked reviews anyway, good or bad call stay with the official, they are right most of the time.

I guess we will just agree to disagree.

All I have to say is GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Sirsnookalot, I was at Tulane Stadium when Dempsey kicked that 63-yard field goal against the Lions.

I remember the Lions walking around the field in disbelief.  :)

Bad teams find ways to loose and it shows. I know , I'm a Brown's fan.

How can you say that was a good call? Did you watch the same game?!!? Both feet, got in, his butt hit the ground, his left hand did and then the ball last. He was getting up, that was it. Next time a RB dives in and crosses the plane, and then lets go of the ball, it better be called a fumble.

1st win in the quest for the Superbowl. GO BEARS!

Good call, bad call. It doesn't matter. It was the right call, as clearly stated on the rule book. Also, when the ball his the ground, he lost possession. It definitely was not in a celebrating manner.

I didn't even watch the game. Great Call, and I look forward to the whining about your horrible team this season.

Oh, wow!  This comment seems to be getting a little personal and out-of-bounds!  Bad call! : (

I want this call reviewed.  ;D

Listen, I love the Bears.  But I gotta say, it was a game of sucky team vs. sucky team.  The historically less sucky team got the call.  At the end of the day, all a Bears fan and a Lions fan can argue about is who sucks worse.  I dont even want to watch this season....
