Mattlures Swimbaits

Featured Replies

I purchased one of the Mattlure Baby Bass swimbaits and haven't caught anything just yet, do you guys think the Bluegill would work better? I'm fishing the Alabama River near Selma, AL and Shad colors have been producing lately but I'm curious if the Bluegill would work better than the Baby Bass.

I've been fishing the Baby Bass swimbait on structure in deep water and points.

i havent fished the blue gill ... but i have caught fish on the baby bass ,,, its my goto right now

I'm not trying to sound like a smart a$$ in any way at all but you should "match the hatch". If there are bluegills in the part you are fishing it should most definatley work, baby bass are everywhere right now so that should also work. As for baby shad you should try that color as well. 8-)

The Baby Bass is a fantastic lure, but it has to be fished

in the right place at the right time. Stick with it and you

will be rewarded.

I hung into about a 50lb spotted catfish (flathead cat) on the baby bass.  He broke my line at the side of the boat though :(

I'm gonna fish it a few more times before I put it down. We got a big tourny coming up so maybe I'll bring it along. With the water temp. around here getting into the upper 80's I'm going to have to fish it deeper so maybe I can hook up something big. :(

i pretty much only fish the blugill when i'm bed fishing and only use it to irritate the mess out of the fish.  then i'll switch to a tube and catch it.

I've had more luck with the baby bass when fishing open water.
