Government

Featured Replies

I have to write a paper about why we should not trust the government. It has to be based on recent news stories. Let's not turn this into a political discussion. I just need some examples of news stories that would cause someone to not trust the government. Any ideas?

All the secrets they keep from the public, leading to conspiracies? :-?

Bird dog, I don't aim this at you but I think "having" to write an article about why "we" shouldn't trust government doesn't even belong in a cirriculum; is this for a class?

I agree.

Anyway, you could talk about all the past politicians/elected officials who were charged with corruption.  I'm sure you could find some local ones in EVERY state.  You could also find plenty of senators, governors, presidents and many more.

Let's not turn this into a political discussion

I have a great idea lets talk about crankbiats, But lets not turn it into a fishing dicussion ;D

I get what you mean man but you have to admit that it just sounds wrong

Talk about them printing us into the point when your money won't be worth a paper towl

Sorry BB, I re-thought my post and elected to remove it so I didn't start anything.  I am still curious as to the wording of the assignment.

It's a group assignment for a college course. We have to write about reasons to trust the government as well as reasons to not trust the government. I'm researching the reasons to not trust, and my partner is researching reasons to trust. When I said "let's not turn this into a political discussion" I meant that I didn't want anyone arguing about what someone else wrote. I'm just looking for ideas, and I don't want this to get locked.

Thanks Maxx, but I'm looking for specific examples.

They influence media to make you believe what they want or they withhold info by restricting what can be shown on tv.

If you need any extra materials how about this:

You could also Google the latest notes from G-20 summit where every government presented vow not to enter a currency war in an attempt to devalue the currency to increase export, which in theory increase their economy. Should we trusts other governments (China) to not intentionally devalue their currency? Even Japan is doing this.

Just thought of this, you could also talk about whether we should trust government on the legalization of marijuana issues. George Washington grew that stuff, man! ;D ;D

Try researching the backroom deals used to get the votes to pass the healthcare bill. You will have more than enough ammunition.
