Lots of Mackeral

Spainish macks have been running, wind was howling so after 10 or so casts I headed back into the ICW.  2 snook, 3 jacks and a schoolmaster for about 30 minutes of fishing, then I got busted for being on a private seawall.........C'est la vie  !

Those macks out on the beach, or on the jetties and piers?

If I'm catching snook macks take a back seat.  Snook have been a bit more active, I caught one Sunday real close to 15 #.

yeah well they kick the snot out of those baby cudas that don't fight.... the random jack is always a blast though

A sight to behold this morning.  Thousands of jacks busting, caught 3 each about an ax handle long.  As fast as they came in that's how fast they left, next hour not one strike.

Snook, any Ceros mixed in?

I've not caught a Cero, but the bulk of Mackeral still seem to be north of me (singer Island).  Considering it's winter I'm doing ok, but it takes a lot of hunting, I'm done with LMB for the year.

Done for the year on January 21? For bass fisherman,

Prime Time is just around the corner. It seems pretty darn

good for some right now!

I'm catching plenty of them but with peacocks in "remission", I have lost my energy for freshwater for a while, I've got 4-5# LMB in my pond in my backyard. I will say large fish of any species are a challenge to catch so I'm sure I'll be hunting for some LMB when my present quarry slows down.

Considering it's winter I'm doing rather well and the fish I'm catching are a bigger than the 4-7# bass on the web page. The bigger the fish, the better the battle, the more I'm interested, so I've been motivated in another direction........

Sounds like a lot of fun, I am always down for some different fishing.

i feel ya snooks, i too like to go inshore when im getting burned out on bass. its a totally different world with different challenges and different rewards!
