Do senkos work for smaller fish?

Featured Replies

Like the title said, do they? They just seem like they would not fit in a fish's mouth or that they would only bite the back half. :-/

The Reviews sound top notch but i just have this feeling in the back of my head. The biggest fish i caught in the lake i fish is like 3lbs and the average is 1 1/2

And I DID look in the senko fact list before posting this. I'de just thought I would note that to show people im responsible. ;)

I don't fish the 5" Senko, it attracts way too many tournament fish!

The 6" version will still be attacked by smaller fish, but I think it helps

get by a few.

The 5" Senko is probably the #1 bait/lure for catching the greatest number of bass. With the 6" Senko it has been my experience that I catch fewer bass, but the average size is bigger. However, you will catch both small and large bass with either size.

My most comfortable way to fish a Senko is the 4" version wacky rigged and i do get a lot of smaller fish as well

Unfortunately, it will catch little fish. All the fish I caught yesterday were dinks  :'(   Oh well, as long as I have my line in the water I am a happy camper.

RW what size hook do you use for a 6" senko? What brand?

Gamakatsu or XPoint 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook.

Ok so smaller baits are more for quanity over quality kinda thing and the biggerbaits weed out the small ones.

Gotcha ;)

I had a bluegill try to bite a 5" senko once.... i actually reeled him in and he had about half an inch of senko in his mouth and refusing to let go. When I tried pulling him out of the water he just fell off though... pretty amusing sight though

Sankos can be used for all size bass, You just have to get a smaller senko, i think the come in all sizes, from 4 to 8". Rig 'em wightless and texas rigged.

A 5" senko will catch you just about any size of bass. Don't be surprised if a 4" bass bites your 5" senko. Even this small a bass will have a pretty large mouth when compared to the worm.

Yes, I caught a 4 1/2" LMB last week on a 5" senko with a 4/0 Wide Gap Hook.

Yes!

Even the two-inch Senkos I have (not produced any longer, as far as I know) catch nice size bass.

There is always a place for a 3-inch and a 4-inch Senko along with the larger 5-inch and 6-inch versions.

Fish them Texas or Wacky rigged.

Senkos don't catch anything.  They are all hype.  Send your senkos to me immediately and I will see that they are promptly disposed of properly. ;D

YEs they catch small fish, but why would you want to? ;D

Nice try bro, but i went out today and caught a 7 incher on my 5 incher!

So your little scheme fails! ;)

I've caught a 1lb bluegill on a 4" Senko.  When it hit, it felt like a small bass.

alright I will be sure to do that, haha.   ;)

I've caught many small fish on 5 inch senkos, just a matter of finding them. Recently caught a smallmouth that was the same size as a 5 inch senko.

I can easily catch 40 bass a day on 5" senkos at one of the lakes I occasionally  fish. Usually 35 of those 40 are only a few inches bigger than the lure. That lake is a dink factory and even the bigger senkos will catch 'em like crazy.

I have caught smallies in the 7in range on the 4in trick stick (* "senko")

I wacky rig Senkos on a 1/0 -3/0 Gammy circle hook. I usually use the 5 or 6 inch. I caught a 1 3/4 pound Redear out of a strip pit on one. I even caught a crappie on one earlier this year in a pond.

Senkos are great small fish lures, and good for big fish too. I catch 6" bass on both the 4" and 5" senkos all the time. It's common
