Fishing Jerseys?

Featured Replies

I'm Looking to buy a fishing jersey and put some names of the tackle I use, StrikeKing , Quantum Etc. Do I need to ask them for their permission to put their decal on the shirt or can I just put it on there without permission?

If you are getting it sublimated or going through a store to get it embroidered on a shirt, then yes, you need a release from the company. But if you're buying a patch, then no.

only if your selling them?

I think as long as your not making a profit of wearing them or telling everyone that you're affiliated by them then it's ok. I'm sure many of them wouldn't mind the free advertising. I'm not sure though.

The companies that do the embroidery and sublimating need a release to do that. Otherwise they're making a profit on someone else's logo.

Good point. I dunno. It wouldn't hurt to email the companies you're thinking of.

I would advise you not list a company on anything that you have to purchase with your own money if they are not doing anything for you in terms of product or money.

Why? If you draw attention to yourself, for example a tournament win, and the company sees you with their logo showing; do you not think that it would have an impact on that company?

The company would just see him as free advertising. In a very rare case they would contact him with intentions of giving him a reward.

If you are wanting to do this, all you need to do is email each company and explain what your purpose is and I am sure it will be ok. When I made jerseys for our school, I just contacted the designer of the logo and got permission. It is the same thing as a company giving stickers away to put on your boat or tackle box.

Spend your money on equipment. It will serve you better than wasting your money for something that's not going to do you any good.

Thank you all for the Needed help. I've won past tournaments in my city and hope to be able to advertise the products I've won the tournaments with. THANKS!

As some one who is in the custom jerseys business. When a jerseys is ordered from us. We assume you have permission to use the logos you requested.

If we were marketing jerseys to sell Like a Bass Cat jersey or Gloomis jersey then we could not.

I've won 4 around the city lakes with my dad and brother. I hope to get into the Youth BASS series here soon and fish their tournaments. I also hope to fish tournaments around the state.

I understand you want to look the part of a tournament angler. But why represent someone for free, I wouldn't. I pay for all of the fees, equipment, boat maintenance and gas to run all over. When they start paying for some of that, then I'd wear their shirt and pay me well enough you get a boat wrap till then it's my company name on it, noone else's.   :P

I agree, plus if they did want to sponsor you at some point they look at it like you are already doing this for free, why should we pay you to do the same thing. thats just my veiw of it.

You should get permission from the companies. But, if they arent helping you out with any kind of sponsorship, i wouldnt wear the logos.

x2, the same thing goes for trying to get someone else to come on board as a sponsor. But if you just think it is fun to wear a jersey to look like a pro - who are we to tell you what to wear?

fishing shirts are awesome.  Its not about advertisement.  Its about looking the part and having confidence and having fun.

I concur.

I wore a Nike shirt today.

They are not sponsoring my life - unfortunately -  but I still wear their clothes.  :D
