Guy Eaker

Featured Replies

Following the Elite event on Smith Mountain Lake and came across Guy Eaker. First of all, the man is 70 years old and competes at that level, also looks fantasitc for his age. After day 1 he was in 8th place and had tied for big fish with a 6'12. Then I go back at look at the event on Clear Lake and see he finished 3rd! Finally to top it off it shows he is 3rd overall in the Angler of the Year race. I just think he is facisinating and was wondering if anybody has met him and what they think of him or if anyone has any good stories. God Bless Him, I hope he wins angler of the year!

I've talked to him on 3-4 occoasions he is one of America's most highly respected bass pros.

"I'm not Kevin VanDam with a bunch of titles. I'm not Rick Clunn with 30-some Classic appearances. But I'll bet you neither Kevin nor Rick have enjoyed fishing for 38 years as much as I have, Quote By Guy Eaker

Great book to read Catching Bass Like a Pro by Guy Eaker: He gives accounts of past tournaments and how he got started in tournament fishing. He also does a great job covering different conditions and discloses some of his secrets he has found over the years. At the end of the book Guy discusses turning "pro" and gives his views and suggestions. Each book is personally signed by Guy Eaker.

Thanks guys! I'll definately pick up the book. Was hoping he would have finished better on Smith Mountain, but still very respectable, he got to fish it all!

I spoke with him at BPS a couple of months ago.  He mentioned that his wife was having some health problems.  Seems like a very humble man.  I wish him well.

He said this was his last season due to his wifes health, he wants to fish one last classic. Im definitly rooting for him.

My father and I met him at Smith Mountain lake last weekend. Super nice guy, very friendly. Signed our hats, spoke for a minute or two,  then patted my dad on the arm. Class act.

I met him a few years ago at an expo. He did some casting demos. WOW. One time, he almost pointed his rod and the bait shot out like a gun. Never saw anything like it.
