Has this worked for you?

Just wanted to know if anyone has gained sponsorship deals because they posted their resume on this site?

I think Rich did, but what is nice is that you can update it all the time and never have to print it out and mail...lol

As somebody who is looking for field staff, I have had a lot of interest, but nobody has sent me back an application yet.  As somebody who has a Pro Staff, and Field Staff, I like looking here, Frankly it is the best repository I have found for anglers who have a drive to perform.  A lot of other sites dont even address the issue.

I am in Negotiations.  : )

Happy too. Come on May, I am ready to fish and the Skeeter is itching too.

How big are the companies that you all are dealing with?

Small start-ups, Mom and Pops or big corporations?

Just curious, if you don't mind me asking.

JT, I have to say both. To please a sponsor takes work. To start with a start up or mom and pop makes a lot of sense when your trying to move forward with your chosen career path. The more you help them succeed, the more support you get.

As you know, cracking through with corporations and the big dollar sponsors is more paperwork. To get the $$$ you need the business attitude with resume and all the legal ease. SP Basically, I am at the stage after talking of putting together a solid business plan for a bigger company who does construction nation wide.

So to answer this directly, both. Close no doors. Use all your resources and Networking certainly helps.

Have a great day.

I fully understand how the business works, but thanks for the refresher.  ;)

My question pertained to the companies that were signing anglers as a result of seeing their info on this forum. (I guess I should have clarified the question a little better)

In some cases the Mom and Pop deals are better. The marina that is one of my sponsors is considered a little guy.  If and when my boat has a problem I'm treated with red carpet service. He stops what he's doing and gets my boat in and fixed. He works hard for me because I do my best to take care of him.

On the other hand the mega boat store down the street that my buddy is sponsored by, he is on the "waiting list" to be serviced. He waits 2-3 weeks to get his boat in and is kicking himself for taking the deal. Not to mention he is also on the highest level they have of sponsored anglers.

Big isn't always better.

I don't have a Marina or a boat deal, but if I need work on my boat, I just take it back to where I bought it from and let them know I have a tournament coming up and they have it ready in no time.  You just need to let them know you will need it back soon.  As long as there is no other Tournament boats in front of you...they should be able to get you in front of the line... ;D  Most will do that for you if you just ask nicely.

This place is really good too.  KVD's brother owns and runs it.  He has great people on his staff up there in K-ZOO.

Thank you Glenn, your program has helped me land sponsors I would never of found. I am off to a great start this year, with Crown J Tackle as a new sponsor. Also thank you Joe Wiles and Crown J Tackle for taking me into consideration!
