  2. Hey,to everyone here who may end up reading this and anyone who can help me.what is the best thing to use while tring to create your on brush pile and where to put it .i have heard a lot about pine trees and cedar trees, but ive also heard about people putting down pvc pipe in some way or another whats best? ??? 8) 8)
  3. Stay on fish in touraments. Many times anglers search for new spots when fishing tournaments. Location Location Location! Stay where you have done your homework and found fish. It certainly has increased my productivity.
  4. I won Bass Angler of the Year with a Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 and Runner Up Angler of the year in another club. It certainly is not the boat that catches the fish. With a 40HP Mercury that was very reliable. Speed was to be desired at less than 30 mph. I used this to my advantage by dropping that trolling motor as soon as possible in areas fairly close to the launch and Keeping the line wet. Too much time on plane is a killer too. I have now upgraded to a Skeeter and a 150 but plan on using the same smart plans again. 2-3 fishing wholes and concentrate my fishing on certain areas where I always know there is fish. Find em in practice and never gamble unless you have to during a tournament. By the way, The $20K to $30K boats were not to happy about being beat. Its not the boat, its you. Livewell: The live well in a 175 was plenty to hold a limit and it constantly recirculates. I prefer to remove the divider and mark my fish and the non-boater has no worries. His are not marked. My only concern would be if your at an area in the South that has some big whopper fish during spawning season, it could get harry putting 2 limits of 50 lbs in a livewell. My 2 cents. Have a great weekend all.
  5. JT, I have to say both. To please a sponsor takes work. To start with a start up or mom and pop makes a lot of sense when your trying to move forward with your chosen career path. The more you help them succeed, the more support you get. As you know, cracking through with corporations and the big dollar sponsors is more paperwork. To get the $$$ you need the business attitude with resume and all the legal ease. SP Basically, I am at the stage after talking of putting together a solid business plan for a bigger company who does construction nation wide. So to answer this directly, both. Close no doors. Use all your resources and Networking certainly helps. Have a great day.
  6. Find you a natural color Rapala jerk bait. Just under the surface. Smallmouth hate them. GL
  7. Dont forget the Split shot and Reaper. Awesome Cali bait. Good Luck and lets get a fishing report. I gotta wait til May. SET THE HOOK!
  8. I am in Negotiations. : ) Happy too. Come on May, I am ready to fish and the Skeeter is itching too.
  9. I agree with the Palomar knot. Although I do use a improved clinch knot on spinner baits and buzzbaits. At times I feel they run truer. If you practice your palomar, you can tie it in under 30 seconds. Does not sound like much but during a tournament, it could be the difference between second and first.
  10. I believe you guys need to check out this sleeper. In Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin. Last June we were up there or as they say UP NORT and had a Smallmouth Fiesta. 5 fish limits of 16 lbs were not uncommon. Door County is absolutely beautiful and rich in culture which makes it a great family outing. Still confused? Its the inlet between Lake Michigan and Green Bay. A great kept secret and a worthy trip. Im going again this year, just for fun.
  11. No, it will not. I have actually caught fish and seen them healed up around a old hook mark. Good Luck and enjoy that Catch and Release.

I retired June 1st 2004 from the Navy! Saltwater is now for the fish. Im stayin in fresh water and searching now for only bass. Those big saltwater fish can eat you. lol Cast em if you got em!
  13. The Potomoc River is a Great Largemouth spot if your wanting a quantity of largemouth. Giant fish, San Diego California has Lake Otay, Lake Hodges. LA area you have Casitas. Check spelling. Smallmouth on Sturgeon Bay is Terrific in Wisconsin. This time of year, I suggest California or Lake Toho in Florida.
  14. Im not in but Im betting on the Bass to win. This post gets me out of Newbie status. YEAH
  15. Shad Master summed it up right. FISH was the voice of BASS. Bad marketing move. On with the show...
  16. If you think thats funny, it gets better. I live in the Windy City. Once that plastic catches fire, be careful. I poured it out of the pan and on the ground. It spread worse than Back Draft the movie. So with my brilliance and my white Nikes, I stepped on it plooooooop oozing everwhere with fire to boot. Those Black Nike's are pretty colorful, minus a inch of sole. Great fishing shoes. lol Im not trying to disourage you. I didnt have a Garage back then with ventilation. If you can get the heat under control, use a steady hand. It can be a fun hobby. Thoughts of my own tackle empire really came crashing down though. The mold I bought was a pretty good mold. Pouring only 7 Senkos at a time and 3 - 4 being good after I mastered this trade was not a good average. I figure my time is worth something. To get a 10 bag of Senkos should be worth a half hour of time. Unless your using BPS Stickos, then you need to double that output to make it worthwhile. Im spending my cash in the store or on the internet. I just didnt have the patience for it. Ive seen some great California platic pourers. Its and art. Its fun but dont lose the house or the garage over it. Make sure you think safety. Also make sure mama's not home for a week if you try it in the house. You will never get the smell out in time. I am envisioning the pros using a Vat type Cooker to maintain exact temp controls on the plastic when you melt it. With a direct injection spout. If you find that at a reasonable price, I would certainly try it again. Have a great day! Skip Senkos, dont Simmer them.
