How does everyone feel about Fish getting axed at BASS/ESPN last week?

I really enjoyed watching him emcee the tournaments.

what happened to him, why did they fire him.

??? I really liked him.

From what I heard, he had some scheduling problems. He claims that is not the reason.

However he is sponsored by skeeter and BASS is now Triton.

I hope it was not a contract thing and they just got rid of him. Hopefully somebody will pick him up ....mabye the FLW tour.

I saw him today doing the O'Boy Alberto Red Fish Tournament today. Hope somebody gets him, he's good.

I personally think Fish was done wrong. But there are two sides to every story.

I was explaining this to my wife, who generally tolerates my obsession with bass fishing and watching fishing shows when I'm not fishing.  She became genuinely upset and said, NO! They can't do that -- he's the voice of bass fishing!!"

My take on it is that Bass doesn't want to have a one person and a figurehead tournament wise or otherwise because they have many things going on now and one person can not be everywhere at the same time. Fish didn't sign a contract or had any obligation except verbal and in this day and age if you sneeze wrong your out without one. Most of the time when a larger company buys another they tend to change things around. I think it stinks but Fish Fishburne might have a lot of doors open up for him. It might be a good thing in the end.

Fish is gone.  No way.  >  I thought he did a great job as emcee.  I didn't like to see Ray Scott go, but liked Fish anyhow.  It seems since ESPN bought into BASS it's went down hill.  It's all getting too commercial.  I know they've got to advertise, but come on.  I wonder who'll replace him?  Any suggestions?

Maybe Fish can make some more "Go Fish" shows.  I know (very corny and silly), but I'll admit, I liked them.   ;D

I'm hoping he will go to FLW. Since Skeeter is a sponsor of his. Hopefully the will speek up for him.

Personally, I think he YELLED TOO MUCH.  But my heart appreciated his passion.

My first BASS OPEN tournament was in Kennewick Washington.Fish was MC at this tournament. I had a great day and got to fish with Gary Dobbins all day. I ended up getting big AM. fish that day. I was alittle nerves going to the way-in. So when I got called up Randy M. took the bag and then Fish just started talkin like he always does. He put me at such ease. Then when he saw that big smallmouth, well you can imagine how he reacted. After the way-in I was soooooo jazed I could'nt leave the park. I just wandered around for awhile then I came across Fish at the trailer. We just stood around and talk about all kinds of things. What a day, First Dobbins then Fish. That is a memory of a life time for me. By the way I was 7th after day 1 and ended up 44. Thats what Fish meant to me. Jim

Shad Master summed it up right.  FISH was the voice of BASS. Bad marketing move.

On with the show...

They fired Fish ! No way! Fish always made the weigh-ins more interesting i think. If you guys watch Classic Patterns, Fish announces the angler who is fishing in the episode. Anyway I hope somebody like FLW picks him up.

You know what I think?  I think we should boycott BASS until they put Fish Fishburne back on the air!  He was the heart and soul of the BASS weigh-ins.  

My guess is that it would be over money.  They probably found someone to do it cheaper.  :'(

I know that boycotting is not a logical thing, but maybe if we flood their email boxes with email, they might give us some answers.  It's worth a try!

If FLW does pick him up.....will make it more fun to watch, cause the guys they have now are just...OK.
