Just got back from spending a week in Montgomery with my uncle. The fishing was kind of slow but I did manage to catch some nice spots. I am utterly amazed at how hard these fish fight compared to largemouths. I loved how they rip the whole worm from the hook or only leave an inch or so left.

Yes sir, they are ORNRY and will pull to the end just to say the least.  Pound for pound the hardest fighting fish in freshwater I've come up against.  I hear smallies will put it to you as well but I have not ever caught one so I don't know.  I hope to do just that this Summer in the mountain lakes of Western NC so I can compare.

Nice fish!! I have caught 1 spot over 2 pounds and about 60 small ones the same day from 1 area at the Ohio River. They are definitely feisty. I think they may be a little more athletic than smallies but the smallies are stronger.
