I saw the ocho worms at BPS last night and they look and feel great. Has anybody tried these out?

i have fished the Ocho it is a good bait but lacks in durablity I have caught 8 fish with the pack i bought and only have one left the are truly a one fish bait.  I much prefer the Gambler ace.

I also found them to be very soft and not very durable as well, when compared to others.

Later, :)

That means I'd probably like them :).  Not durable=super soft plastic, and I like the 'hand poured' feel of really soft baits.  I'll probably stick to Senkos though....

in all the new perfect plastics I am finding the are really soft baits. I love the coffee scent but wish they were more durable like the rage tail line.

The Ocho isn't really a senko knock off like so many other brands.  For once, there is something notably different about it.  The Ocho is an octagon.  Having 8 flat sides, it doesn't cut through the water like a circular design would.  Rigging it with a flat side down causes a bit of resistance that forces the body to move with the water trying to get around it.  This slows the fall and gives it a bit of wiggle.

I've been playing with the Ochos lately.  I'm not a soft plastic cigar fan, but they work well.  Durability with these types of bait isn't an issue to me anymore because it is not a primary technique or me.  I only use them on carolina rigs, pegged texas rigs for punching mats, and finesse applications.  I don't go through very many, so I don't feel the need to drop 500 bucks on them a year.  They work well.  Mixed with that coffee scent that I'm faling in love with, it has a place in my box.

Thanks, for the advice. I think I'm going to get a pack in the ockechobee craw color.

Bought a bag of 8 and they didn't last the morning. Caught about 20 fish. Double edged sword-catch fish but don't last too long.

Being the cheapo I am, I bite the first 1/4" off and re-rig if possible.

Better value than Senko though and works just as good if not better.

Need more colors.

Are these made out of the same material as the zero or is it different

  • 2 weeks later...

They are made out of a more standard soft plastic than the Zero.  It is not the "elastec" (I am sure I misspelled that, sorry) plastic.

if it was made out of the 3x elaztec that the zero is, one pack would last you a month.....

btw i love the play on words stike king is going with here...... its an "ocho" senko.

lol

like the football player...............

Zero is a great bait but I have noticed, and I don't think I'm alone, that after a while they start to float. You can catch several fish on one bait though and that's great when you are into them and dont want to re-rig on every cast.

I have noticed that the Zeros float too.  I wouldn't mind trying these out...they sound like a neat idea.

not to hijack the  thread from the  ocho... but the zero floating has done good by me for the ol' c-rig....
