Met up with Jimmy today on the Chowan River for little respite from the surf and sand.

He handed me my hat today.  Then again, it is his home water and I think he knows every single bit of cover in that place.  Beautiful place to fish, I just couldn't adjust to the Quantum reels and AllStar rods.   ;)

Check out the back on that fish.  It had a huge cut that was healed over.  Didn't seem to affect the fight in the fish though.

Raiding Jimmy's tackle compartment.   ;)

I could spend a year in this place...

First fish of the day for me.  The fish wasn't getting off.  The hook was through the upper lip, on the outer side of the gills, then hooked back through the gill plate.

The Rage Craw came through twice today.  Just glad I didn't get skunked.

This is when Jimmy really started the lesson.  At least I got to land it for him.

And land the  next one too...

He got both of those within 75 yards of each other.

He even got into the trash fish.

I saw that flying away from us and asked him if it was an eagle.  He thought it was an osprey until we got a little closer.

We spent about 6 hours on the water before my wife started getting a little red despite the SPF 55 sunscreen.  As we were leaving, that sorry cracker gave me an All Star cranking rod.   :o

We had a great time, got to see some new country and see a few nice fish.

Jimmy, thanks again for a great day on the water!  And you'd better watch out, there's gonna be payback for that gift.   ;)

Nice work fellas! I've heard a bunch of good things about The Chowan and from those pics, the place looks killer!

And Burley, if you need an excuse in the future, fishing from the back of the boat sounds a lot better than blaming the gear. ;)

Well, I wasn't going to say he back-ended me.  I'm too grateful for the trip.

From the pics it still looks like a great day to be on the water.  Better luck next time Burley.

Awesome post, Great pics!  Burley, the wife is as "ready at the shutter" as you are huh?  Cool pics  8-)

Frogtog, you're a class act.

I would like to say that it was a pleasure meeting Burley and his wife.

Couldn't have asked to fish with two nicer people. I enjoyed the fishing trip just wished we had a few more days for Burley to catch up. I knew from watching him that it wouldn't be long before he caught on to river fishing. ;D Burley the door is open anytime you want. Oh yea just about time I pulled out the ramp a big Black Bear ran out in front of my truck, I was going to jump out and tackle him so I could get a few pic's but I was to tired. ::)

TrippyJai It's not a lake It's a river system

Yes, except she can't take a straight photo to save her life.
