Alewive help

Featured Replies

What are some good color schemes for alewives?  I have never fished in a lake with them but planning to.  I really don't know that much about them.  Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Any shad color should be fine. I don't think a bass much cares if the lure looks more like a blueback or an alewife. But the alewifes I've seen had a browner back than other herrings. This particular color has worked well for me.

I custom paint cranks and I looked at several pics and live samples of Alewife. The back color varies from grayish/greeen to dark brown depending on location. The sides are shimmering silver fading to white on the belly. Here is a pic.

If you want to use soft plastics, Lunker City makes several of their baits like the Slug-Go or Fin-S-Fish in alewife color.

Agree with Micro. Anything shad colored would be fine.
