Go with the medium power, it's an all around rod. It can handle big fish and makes smaller fish much more fun to catch. Look for a sale this time of year. The Shimano Stradic 2500 is a GREAT reel that lists for around $120 but is occasionally on sale for $69-$79 at BPS, Cabelas or other big sports stores.

MH because it is best for all occasions, Also Diawa and Shimano make great spinning reels for around $50. Check Bass Pro shops or Cabelas

all u want it spinning? baitcast is good too but, if i were you id get a abu garcia spinning reel. They are nice.

I use 6'6" medium as an all-purpose rod and it works out well with a full variety of baits.

i love to us a light action 5'0 rod with a shimano sahara witch is usually around a 50 $ reel ;D

I second the Shimano Sahara.  There around $60, I believe, and it is a quality spinning reel.  But by all means, if the Stradic is even around $100, buy that reel.  There's so much of my drool on the demo at the BPS in St. Louis that I just laugh when I see someone else touching the 2500.

yea it was 60 but still one great reel im sorry i only got to use it a few times last year :-/ but hey i guess itll make this year all the  better  ;D

You can get a nice spinning outfit for a lot less than $75. You should be able to find a real sweet unit for around $40. Go to the local sporting goods store play around with a few. Save yourself some money and use whats left on lures. ;)

If you arent sold on St. Croix I would go with a Falcon (Falcon Graphite Rods).  I would also say go with the medium.  If you are looking for an awesome reel for a reasonable price I would go with a Quantum Kinetic 20, which list for around 55 bucks.  Another good one would be a Pflueger Trion which will list for around 35 bucks.  Both of those are prices I saw at a Sportsmans Warehouse.  I would suggest going a little cheaper on the reel and putting more money in the rod.  At the end of the day it is the rod that is catching the fish.  If you can save an extra 30 or so on the reel bump up from a St. Croix premiere to a Falcon Lowrider or Cara, or a G Loomis GL2 or GL3.

Go with the medium rod because like RR said it is a good all around rod.

Go with RW.  Good answered

Great suggestion from RW, heed that advice, just change the reel to a pflueger president ($59)

;)

I kid, both reels are great choices for the price.

Give credit to RW for the rod choice, but regarding the reel you'll have to define the meaning of "under 75 bucks."  ;)

Two of my favorite under $100 would be the Daiwa Exceler (approx $60) and the Okuma Epixer (approx $60). I like my Exceler 2500 better.
