bumps on bass

Featured Replies

Hey I was wondering what these bumps on this bass are. They were on several others we caught that day too. They seemed to move too. WedJan06065817EST2010.jpg Thanks.

I have no idea, maybe J Francho or Thai can chime in, as they are fish nerds and could tell you.

Also, try posting this in the "General Bass Fishing Forum" might get better hits.

All I got is "woah!" and "yuck!"

maybe he got in contact with a female that wasnt exactly 'clean'.

I don't know what that is. You might want to E-mail your local fish and game with that pic, Maybe they could tell you what it is or might want to know about it.

I 2nd this..............................and good one brushhoggin!

ive seen that on saltwater fish thhey are called like sea lice im sure thats what it is specially since you say they move, they are lil parasites on the fish, if you catch another one try to take them of they should peel off, take as many as you can off and put them in a zip lock with a lil water and take them to your local game and fish that way they can test it and fidn out what it is and how to deal with it

I have seen this on allot of fish in the south Florida area, and yes you can see them move.  Most of the time the fish is healthy,  with the exception of the bumps.  They can be removed,  scraped off or even wiped off, they don't stick too much.  I seem to see more of them on golf course fish than anywhere else.  I don't know how bad they are for the fish or the lake system.  I will be interested to see what the experts have to say.

chemical reaction of some sort? golf course grass is treated more than the average grass right? i'm gonna go with chemicals. except they move? it looks like the flesh itself has little air bubbles under it? aw hell i dont know
