Here are a couple pics of my first LMB caught on a Mop-Jig. I am not sure of the weight so I am guessing about 6-7 pounds.

EDIT: I forgot to say that this is the first bass I have ever caught on a jig.

After looking at it, I am sorry, I do not remember what they are called. It has the body of an * Beaver Craw but has two small paddles and one big paddle for arms instead of claws.

I have to agree with that. 

Congrats! nice jig and nice looking bass, but I do think you should add a nice scale to your arsenal. I'd say that bass is closer to 5 pounds. Still an awesome bass. Of course I've been wrong before ;D

That could be true.  I was just guessing at the weight.  I am a big boy at 264lbs and I am holding that fish right next to me, not extended out towards the camera.  I had never caught anything on a jig before so I only had my jigs with me this time.  I managed to catch 4 bass on jigs over the past 3 days.  It feels good.

That is a great first jig fish. Congrats!!!  There will be more.

Man, that rod is awesome.  I am slowly replacing all my SC rods with them.  I just got another one along with the carbonlite reel and I love it.  I am going to put my 2 Johnny Morris Silver reels that I have only had a few months up for sale very soon so that I can get 2 more carbonlite reels.

Very nice. Larger bass have a thing for jigs. GMAN is right -there will be more.

Nice fish right there.  I'm still trying hard to get my first real jig fish.  Catching them on swim jigs just doesn't seem to count for me.  And yes, the Carbonlite rods and reels are pretty nice.  I've got one with the rod and reel for casting as well as a ML carbonlite spinning rod that I picked up a couple of days ago that I LOVE.  For anybody wondering, they're sensitive enough that I can feel a wacky worm wiggling in the water as it drops.

SoFlaBassAddict, you will catch them.  As for the reels, I have 3 of the carbonlite reels now and I love them.  Those buggers cast an easy country mile.  I got rid of my Johnny Morris Signature series reels so I could buy a couple more carbonlite reels.  Thank you to all for the comments on the fish.  It felt great to finally catch one on a jig and a good one at that.

Congrats man... my avitar fish which is mypersonal best was a jig fish. 6lbs 9oz on a xtools scale... I didn't like jigs at first but after I caught my first fish on one it's hard to put down... it's like you don't catch anything at first then once catch one the flood gates open and it becomes your goto bait

Great fish!  I hung my first jig fish this season in March, 5 days after ice out.  I was pretty stoked.  Jigs are incredibly addicting.  I hope I don't fall in love with it to the point where I throw it when the conditions favor something else.
