buzzbait retrival?

Featured Replies

Just curious to see what you guys think. It seems to me people are extremely 1 way or the other on this

My vote was for slow as poss. but anytime I hit an obstruction with a lure my retrieve will change. also retrieve changes for diff cover, grasses are typically faster than brush. When I'm in open water I typically burn them as a search bait!

While I rarely fish them slow, I almost never pull them steadily, either.  I like a sputter or almost a stop and go burn.

Hmm...

Be careful, you will get your arm broken on tha Cavitron I sent you!

The more agressive the fish the faster the retrive.  The less agressive the slower the retrive.  When using them as a search bait I will burn them.

I love to fish them at night just slow enough to keep the blade(s) turning. During the day fast or slow depending on conditions or mood of fish.

Your choices are incomplete.

What about "both" or "ripped off the bottom" or "drag it over wood" or "fast and slow" and on and on.

I fish buzzbaits both fast and slow.

The fish have to tell you what they want.

And what about weights and colors?

Just suggestions.  :D

I am not to the left or right on this one either. The fish have to tell you what they want.At least it isn't hard to tell or doesn't take long to figure out if a buzzbait will work or not.

I agree there are many variables to consider only one retrieve; good discussion though. I like squealing blades, clacker blades & quit blades; ricochet em off stumps, ripe em through waves to name a few.

Depends on what the bass are wanting, if they want a lazy easy bite then I'll retrieve slowly, and if they want it fast then that is what they will get.

Let the fish dictate what they want.

IF IT'S NOT BUMPING INTO TO COVER TO CAUSE IT TO CHANGE CADENCE OR DIRECTION, I POP IT EVERY 3 FEET OR SO OF RETREIVE TO ACCOMPLISH THE SAME THING.

ROLL TIDE,

BAMA NATE

I try both until the fish respond to it. I've gone so far as to put a large four bladed plastic blade on some and crawl it. You would be surprised how slow it will go. Paid off when nothing else was working one rainy day.

But another variation of this is to just kill it all of a sudden and let it drop then resume.A good way to catch followers 8-)
