Spinnerbait with 2 skirts

Featured Replies

A two skirt spinnerbait will give it a beefier presentation it looks like it would work but I would worry about the second skirt slipping off since there is no barb keeping it up. It can turn those cheap spinnerbaits into something a little better.

p.s. I know the color combination is horrible but I did not want to ruin my expensive ones so I just used the only 2, 1 dollar spinnerbaits i had. And sorry for the quality of the picture since i dont have a camera i just threw it in my scanner to scan it, I could not make it look pretty and get all the skirt down once i closed the top of the scanner.

That is totally different  though. That is 2 REALLY thin skirts. I would prefer 2 normal skirts to make big fat beefy spinnerbait.

yea that lure looks nice an all but i like wut other is sayin cuz it would look like a fat fish an make a bigger bass want to eat it but idk

Interesting, will have to try this.  Normally I pull strands out of my skirts to thin them out, on jigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzs.

I have made bulkier skirts by using 3 skirt tabs? If you are looking for the bulkiest skirt check out micromunch as EW's skirts are 60 strand instead of the normal 40. BTW please tell me you do not actually plan on fishing with that Wal-Mart, Chinese slave labor built piece of crap they call a spinnerbait? :-/

If they were new and clean a small dab of crazy glue might be some insurance for holding the 2 skirts together

people been doin it for years with blades to make em bulkier.

The second skirt will rarely, if ever, come off.  I fish spinnerbaits this way when I feel like the fish want a bigger profile...the bait will also ride higher because of the added skirt.

I do plan to do this. If it works I will use my more expensive ones.

I've used 2 skirt Spinnerbaits when throwing at targets. You can get the blades spining and keep the bait close to the target.

I use two skirts on a spinnerbait when I am fishing dirty water I double skirt a jig in dirty water also. It displaces more water and slows it down.

If your worried about the skirts comming off, take a short length of braided fishing line and make several wraps around the band that holds the skirt to the spinnerbait head.  Tie it off tight, and the skirt should stay on if you tie it properly.

If you want to stop the skirts from coming off use tiny zip ties  ;)

I use double skirts on jigs when a heavier weight is needed but I still want a slow rate of fall

If you want to stop the skirts from coming off use tiny zip ties

I prefer having the skirt come off  8-)

;D ;D ;D ;D

your the man avid.

Allen, Stamina makes or made the original hidden head bait which the current head evolved from. I used to double up the skirts, 2 60 strand jobs on the bait with a big Colorado. I liked to throw a Table Rock Shad chart/puple color. Man oh man is that a great bait. The only weak point was the Mustad hook which in reality was better than anything not a Gamakatsu or Owner. I think I have a few left. I think I'm going to throw them next time out.

I remember seeing a fishing show on the outdoor channel one time where a pro angler (cant remember which one) was talking about using two skirts on a spinner bait. He said one reason he done it is he could trim different parts of the skirt to give the bait a little different look. I have been going to try it and just forgot about till this thread came up.
