Hey...I had to reply to my own message cuz i must be an IDIOT but...last I heard it was the person that beats George Perry's record gets $1,000,000   regardless...plus endorsments out the arse I'm sure...is that Mill thing tru though?? I've read in Mag's and heard from ppl but.....is that the case?

I think people are speculating that the endorsements, appearance fees, etc. would be worth over $1,000,000.  No one is just going to hand out a $1,000,000 prize to the angler.

To be honest I think the more "Business Savvy" the angler is, the more money the record will be worth. If it is just some Joe Schmoe that was bobber fishing with a dew worm and has about as much business sense as a sack of hammers, he probably won't retire with the money he earns.

On the flip side, if it is caught by someone that at least has some knowledge of Marketing, Public Relations or things of that nature, it could be like finding a golden ticket in a Wonka bar.

JT,I got you on the Wonka thing.....and yes,when the lucky guy lands the big one,he'd better not start running off at the mouth about what he caught it on or what reel or rod he was using or his line or his boat etc.....these big name tackle companies would be stepping on each other to get to the anglers house.They would pay  MAJOR $$$$ to have the guy say that he used their equipment,lures etc. to catch the world record largemouth.I bet if you did it right,you could pull alot more than 1 million.

Plus you see product lines offering extra money if caught with their Product.  Would be nice to be JOE and find that ticket, eh?

I live in Washington and i do not think anybody will find that golden ticket in our waters, but i agree with you JT. If the person knows the market he will become a walking billboard and make a lot more than 1 mill.

That is absolutely true, the State of Tamaulipas offers a 1 million bucks price in cash to anybody who breaks a IGFA certified WR bass in the lakes the state has specifically named for such purpose, Lake Guerrero is one of them.

Now that's a great PR scheme!  The amount of tourist revenue a gimmick like that will generate will far exceed $1,000,000.  Never mind the fact that the odds against it happening are so great.

Just imagine catching the World Record Bass. That would be just, awesome. Not to mention you would have plenty of money to buy all the fishing tackle you want pretty much!

It 's really not a gimmick, Tamaulipas is one of the states known by it 's huge LMBs, like Sinaloa, Florida strain bass was introduced in the 70's and the state record for LMB is 18 1/2 pounds, fish feed heavily on tilapia panfish and it 's not uncommon to encounter 10+ pounders floating around with a huge tilapia stuck in their mouths.

  yall can keep on wishing but i put my money on california for the next world record bass ,want be long ,within the next 2 years we will see it come to pass. Then will be looking for 24 lbers.  keep the slack,   catbird48

I was not rying to be insulting.  I know huge bass are caught in Mexico.  I just meant the odds that the record would come from one state are pretty long considering all the huge bass being caught elsewhere, as well.

I didn 't take is an insult Ceph, God forbids me taking it that way, personally I don 't believe that the WR lurks in our waters, yeah fish can grow huge here but there 's something wrong, the water is too hot for them to live long enough to put more pounds into their body, my bets are in California, with water cold enough to hold trout, trout stocking every year those fish have an easy meal and a longer life.
