Skeeter6598
Oklahoma angler has now raised the bar once again for the state record Smallmouth I'm chasing. 2 days ago all I had to do was catch an 8lb'er and I'd have it, but not anymore. Read in yesterdays paper that they just caught another state record smallie that weighed 8lbs 1oz beating the previous 7lbs 12oz smallie caught on Texoma. What was more shocking is that the smallie didn't come from Texoma. Texoma has produced like the last 5 state record smallies for Oklahoma, but not any more. The W.R. Holway Reservior in northeastern Oklahoma now holds the record! Well time to hit it again and shoot for the new goal. 8lbs 4 ounces! LOL! ;D
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 5, 2005 Super User Share Posted April 5, 2005 In Tennesse the state record is 11lb 15 oz and supposedly caught on Dale Hollow, but is not recognized by the IFGA. The world record, certified by IFGA, is 10lb 14 oz and also caught on Dale Hollow. So here, in this state, you might catch the world record and STILL not have the state record. Well, I'm shooting for 12 lb 8 oz certified and the undisputed state and world record!
Skeeter6598
See that's the stuff I don't understand. The technicalites. World record should mean the Biggest ever caught. Unbelievable the horse hockey that goes on with all the record keeping. Either way I don't believe Texoma has that world record smallie in it but I hoping to break the Oklahoma state record, and it might even be the Texas state record also, considering the lake is in both states! Good Luck on your quest. Maybe will both find our names in those Record books in the near furture!
BD
He also caught that fish from the shore, on a spinnerbait. I am planning a trip out to chimney rock lake, aka w.r. holway.
Nick_Barr
I think the IGFA makes it too complicated for us anglers.
Rattlinrogue
The state record largemouth in Mississippi is18.7( he caught it on a silver-blue back Rouge floater over in Natchez). That just happens to be my # 1 bait.Where I fish the lake record is 14+ lbs.Our game Warden has told me he's shocked up a 16 + lb. bass always in the same vicinity.I plan on breaking that record and maybe even the state record.Pray for me! ZoSo71
State Record here in Ohio is 9.5lbs by Randy Van Dam in 1993... I swear I caught a bigger one in the Cuyahoga river, But I never carry a scale (just becomes a dissapointment in the end) Enjoy ZoSo71
Bronze12
Skeeter, I would say you got a great shot at breaking that. I've seen some of the smallies that come out of there and its amazing. I talk to a warden up there too who says he's seen some 7's that have come out of there. Don't if thats right or not but it sure got me excited. Good luck. Skeeter6598
Them record smallies are hear. The biologist here, Paul Mauck, has shocked up some that would break the current record now! I know they're there I just have to KEEP them on when they bite. LOL! Always about the one that got away!
