i have heard a lot of people talk about how great senkos can be in the right situatuion.  maybe i'm just old school but i pretty much only throw zoom plastics. i'm not at all familiar w/ senkos or what type of retrieve seems to work best nor rigging them. i would greatly appreciate a lil info on the basics of fishing a senko.

T rig, no weight ( it doesn 't need it, it casts like a rock ).

Cast, let it sink, once it 's on the bottom, deadstick it, wait, then reel in a couple of feet, deadstick again.

Cast, let it sink, once on the bottom wait a couple of seconds, jerk your rod tip, do not reel in the slack, let the bait sink on a slack line as you lower your rod tip, when doing this the bait sinks away from you returning to the point where it was lifted

Cast, let it sink, retrieve like a regular worm.

Cast, let it sink, jerk the rod tip once or twice "shaking" the worm, let it sink to the bottom.

Wacky rigged.

Cast, let it sink, jerk the rod tip a couple of times, let it sink to the bottom again.

i agree with wacky rig.  a friend and i were each throwing green senkos.  his rigged wacky, mine rigged weedless w/ off set hook.   and he caught 4 bass and i caught 1 scrapper bass.  

I wore out a bag of these things in watermelon, and I have't caught a fish on them.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I've tried all the things mentioned above and on the links provided by Glenn.

I can go down the same bank fish the same color super fluke the same way and catch several bass.

Maybe it's a question of confidence.  You obviously have confidence in the super flukes, but sounds like you may not have any confidence in Senko's.  Maybe you should force yourself to go fishing only with senko's, and focus, focus, focus.  Trust me, you'll come around and gain more confidence with the senkos.

Try fishing them during a cold front or afternoon. I find that bass are either in a mood for a vertical presentation or horizontal. Don't stop fishing this bait because it didn't work on a few trips. Sometimes I catch fish with it fished like a slug-go much like your fluke. Other times weightless as a drop bait or on a dropshot wacky. This bait has enough weight to skip under docks and under over hanging trees. You can fish it on weed edges wacky style or on weed flats. Texas rigged the bait does run backwards to a degree on slack line. This is a slow bait to fish but at times thats what they want. I will also say this it is not a bait for all situations. When it works it works in a big way. I use it a lot as a back up bait to my main lures or when I am fishing used water. I use it when nothing else works. I like it in the spring, summer mainly. I would say that is the time of year I use them the most but they work all year.
