Paging Dr. Raul

Recommended Posts

Raul- After a few months of enjoying your posts, I was just wondering if I could inquire as to who you are. "What's your story" so to say.

I think I read somewhere that you are a VET?

In Mexico?

Where you born there or a transplant because although I know a few of us get a kick out of some of the "raul-ism's" (new words only Raul could create),we all know exacly what you mean and when my g/f pointed out, English is probably your 2nd language. Wen you think of it that way, you speak English better than 75% of this board.

With that said, great posts and thanks for all the researching you invest in your answers. Very infomational.

Yes my friend I 'm a vet, I taught Compared Animal Anatomy and Aquaculture at LaSalle 's School Of Veterinary Medicine here in Leon for 10 years, I also worked for 5 years in Mexico 's equivalent to US ' Fish and Wildlife Service at the fish factoty or aquaculture center that the service has here in the state. Yes, English is my second language it gets kinda tricky trying to speak in American English because I was taught the language by American,  British and Irish teachers since I was 3 years old. so many times the spelling gets mixed, you now centre instead of center, colour instead of color, lift instead of elevator, underground instead of metro and things like that so pardon me if sometimes you see words you 're not familiar with.

Really my friend, I 'm don 't like to appear like "know it all", nor I 'm here to brag about how much I know.

My only interest is that our members learn the why 's so the use the knowledge to get to the how to 's.

Bass fishing can be a very rewarding experience when you connect with the fish and it can also be very dissapointing, my idea of teaching is to give the tools and help along the process, so the sport becomes much more fun that it already is.

Not to mention the fact that as near as I can tell is the man who coined the phrase "bait monkey" ;) ;D

He actually posted pics of his bait monkey "helping hang" Christmas lights. LOL!

Instead of having him running wild with my CCs ordering fishing stuff on-line I had to give him something to do, so the light were a very good excuse to keep him busy and leave my CCs a much needed rest.  ;D

You should have seen how he left my American Express card after a month  :o, the godess Palas Athenea ( the one in the credit card ) ended up with a pretty beat up and dented helmet, a broken nose, a black eye, three teeth missing, a dislocated finger, it took months of intensive care an several reconstructive surgeries to put her back on her tracks again. :-X. The worst thing is that I had to pay for it.  ::)

Crazy thing is, I believe every single story I have heard about the Bait Monkey.  I don't think for 1 second he is making it up.  You really need to look into getting a patent for coining the phrase "bait monkey".  All true anglers have that crazy creature inside him/her somewhere, its just a matter of finding it.  Thanks to you, I found my bait monkey, oh boy did I find mine!

you had to get another credit card to pay the other off, didn't you?  lol

Raul, and anyone else with a vast amount of knowlege, never think anyone is going to think you think you know it all.  lol

cause then you'll not post your knowledge at times, when all the time I'd like to hear your knowledge.

thanks

What I find surprising is that the thread, Know Your Prey!: Bass Senses II, has only been read 144 times as of this post. We have 2672 members and numerous guests, and at least 4 of the 144 hits have been mine!

Hmmm?

Anyhow, Dr. Raul rocks!

p.s. No references needed, Bait Monkey speak, me listen.

I totally agree with everyone here.  Raul keep those informative posts coming.  This has to be the absolute best forum on the net.  There is more information on here than most pros ever thought about having.  I think now it's a matter of piecing that information to gather to make yourself an arsenal of bass weapons.  I would like to personally thank Raul, Glen and eveyone on here for there great information and willingness to help.

Man, was that sucking up or what?

I'm new to the site, Found this forum by accident. I've seen the term "bait monkey" posted and wondered what is was. Please give me more on the bait monkey story. I have followed the TFF (texas fishing forum) in the past. Some info was shared. But area tournaments in North/north east Texas are highly competive, tournament anglers don't share much useful info. Thanks Raul, and to all of you who give my brain something new to diesect and diegest. "Knowlege is a waste if its not shared".

Matt the BaitMonkey is the evil spirit we all have in us, it 's some sort of evil concience that constantly murmurs at your ear "You need it, buy it", he doesn 't care how much money you have, if you 're in debt or if you can afford it, the case is you end up buying it ! ::) it doesn 't matter if you already have it, the fact that it comes in different colors and sizes is what awakens him, you certainly need them all ! ;), sales at BPS, oh boy you 're in trubble! , how do you think I ended up with 500+ plus cranks, 100+ spinnerbaits and about 40 pounds of soft plastics, not to mention a bunch of rods and reels, a jonboat, TWO trolling motors ???, depthfinder and a truck purchased exclusively for fishin' :-/. Crazy isn 't it ? so when you see my name recomending tackle I swear it ain 't me, it 's the BaitMonkey speaking, no wonder why I 'm always broke. :'(

We are very fortunate to have people like Raul around to educate us in our sport.

I know Raul would agree that we are very fortunate to have a good number of people, i.e., RoadWarrior and a number of other good contributors that we can benefit from too.  We know more together than any one of us.
