I really like the show, and the host. I think he just lets the show be focused on the person he's fishing with - which is the point. "Real people, real fish stories" - right? Maybe one of the members here who's been a guest/had Lunkerville as a guest will post up.

I've done two shows with them. I did the pilot which was accepted by the network and I did a show in 2005. Really fun shows. The host is a great guy. Maybe not your typical host but he knows how to run the show. If you want to check out my episodes, they are on my site. www.micromunchtackle.com

click on the freshwater tackle link and then scroll across the page with the smallies all the way to the right.

I was on the show as well on a hot day in July that hit 101 degrees. You can watch the "Georgia On My Mind" show at www.lunkerville.com and watch me sweat while catching fish in 90+ degree water. Mike D as well as the other Lunkerville guys were a fun bunch to hang out with. Dodgeguy from here was also on a show. I have had a couple other people that wanted me to stockpile big fish for a week etc. to make a fake show for them and I wouldnt agree to do their shows. Mike D. and Lunkerville put me on the show and showed it how it really happened. It  was a really tough day to fish and we didnt catch any monsters although we caught fish but its just like the show says, "Real people, real fish stories".

One of my favorite shows, the best thing is all you have to do to watch the episodes is go to his website that randall posted and you can pick and choose between any of his hows to watch.

The host guy (Mike) really seems like a nut   who has little knowledge about bass fishing. And some of the people on it are far from experts in my mind. But I think thats part of the appeal AND, I can't peel my eyes from the show. Despite all of that criticism, I really enjoy the show and am envious of those who have hosted it. I look forward to it every Friday. I bet Mike is an absolute riot and in some way, I usually pick up something from each show.

I sound like a hypocrite don't I?

Pretty good fishing show. It incorporates locals their fishing spots and the tackle they use. I have been watching it for about 6 month and find it very informative.

We are sitting out a snowstorm here in Tulsa, so I spent most of the afternoon watching about 60% of the Lunkerville videos.  The shows were vere educational, but I've never seen so many dinks in my life.  Is the size of the bass shown in the videos typical for New England and the East Coast?  If this is truely the case then I must confess that I would start fishing for catfish.  Is a lunker in New England considered anything over 1 lb.?  I want to assure any potential respondents that I am in no way being criical.  I am simply ignorant, and wish to learn.

When Mike D and Lunkerville came down to Atlanta I wanted so bad to take them to Lake Varner where I have caught a bunch of ten plus pounders but the weather called for 101 degrees and we could have caught nothing so I chose a numbers lake for the show. Varner is an incredible big fish fishery but can be tough when the water temp gets over 90 degrees. I didnt want them to come all the way from NY to go back without a show. Both Mike and myself had big fish on but they both got off before they were seen. Also remember in reality most fishing shows you see on TV are not real.  I remember a few years ago it took six pounds a day to win BASS angler of the year so If you could catch six dinks everyday you could be the best Pro fishermen on the BASS tour. That kind of puts it all in perspective. The lakes up in the NY area where Mike does most of his shows have a bunch of quality four to seven pound fish that I have seen posted on his other website but in reality most people don't catch those everyday and the show is about the everyday guy catching fish the way it really happens. Its what I like about the show.

I've been waiting for Mike to want to see some real New England Bass but I got no return call. Sent in video and got nothing in return as far as a response goes.

Big Bummer, I know we could show him some nice fish and my boat is never shy of laughter.  Oh well, I'm just not TV material.

hello everyone... mike d here, host of Lunkerville... i appreciate the kind words and am happy to answer any questions you have about the show

murray: i've been bass fishing actively since only 2000 and also co-own a popular bass fishing website, nybass.com... the dynamic on Lunkerville is to let the guest be the expert and teach me how to fish their spots and techniques... i also encourage teasing and good-natured fun, with the jokes usually on me... this makes for a unique show as almost every fishing show on TV has a host that's "the expert"... so you're not entirely off-base when you say it looks like i have no idea what i'm doing when i'm fishing! ;)

craig:  i'm loving those hogs you've been posting at the lunkerville forums... it sounds like florida is treating you right, buddy... say hi to the missus for me.

regarding where and when we air, you can find all that info here: http://research.backchannelmedia.com/programs/Lunkerville  we aired 86 times last week on various networks, but are mostly seen on The Water Channel, DISH ch 217 and The Sportsman Channel... we're also coming to WildTV in canada beginning in January.

randall: good to see you man!... i need to come back to atlanta and score a hog... because as long mike says, we catch way too many dinks on the show... but it is real people real fish stories, you know?... we're always looking for the "lunker", and when we find her it's a big deal... cause we're just not going to be pulling pig after pig out of the water like bill dance and roland martin... we could if we wanted to, like randall says, with a little help from friends and the viewer would never know it wasn't 100% real...but it's not our style to do that and we're very happy with catching what we can while the camera's rolling.

duke... you sound dead on!... i take what you said as a major compliment :)

russ: i got your video, dude... and i plan to use some of the material this season on Lunkerville... we do a "home videos from lunkerville" segment, which has only popped up a few times on the show thus far; but we're expanding that idea in the upcoming season and want to make it a regular feature on the show... i'll notify you when and if we use it!... also, you're on the list now as a potential guest, but please understand we get a ton of inquiries and can't feature everyone... but stay tuned... the chance that we'll use your video is very high at the moment.

thanks everyone for watching the show!... tell your friends about it and look for a whole season of new shows and a tactics DVD in the coming year!

Welcome to the forum,

I have watched a couple of the shows on the internet and really like it. You definitely need to come back down here to ATL and go with Randall to Varner. It seems like every other day he is posting pics on the site of 10 and 12lbers like it is easy. My home lake is lake Kedron which is the one you and Randall went to. You must have gotten one of the worst days fishing and weather wise at that lake, but it was still cool to see my home lake on TV.

I have "known" MikeD for what about 1 1/2 years now... not personally but online thru Lunkerville and NY Bass... I can tell you that he is a genuine and very NICE GUY... If he ever makes it down my way I will make sure I meet up with him just to shake his hand... his show isn't a cut and splice of catching big ole fish... its not fake... it reminds me of MY fishing tournaments... I can go out and whack them in prefishing.... but come tournament day... I would get skunked...

I have a lunkerville sticker on MY car...

I missed the comment about smaller fish. In truth, the great thing about Lunkerville is the fact that nothing is staged, you catch a fish, the fish is on tape, whether it is large or not. I would guess the large magority of bass anglers do not catch large fish on a regular basis, that is likely why we tune in to websites and fishing shows to see how it is done. These shows are not done from private stocked lakes by professional anglers. It is real life fishing done by guys who do it for free. Essentially it is reality show fishing. If you have a bad day, there is no set up fishing with pre caught bass. Thank again to Mike for having me on the show and for producing a show that has a unique angle on bass fishing. Hope all is well for the holdays Mike!

Alright! I'm ready to be your guest then! Come on over to Northern Indiana and I'll show you a real lunker  . Alright, I admit, we don't have any lunkers in my neck of the woods. But its fun thinking that!

one thing i forgot to say is how impressive this site is... really well organized with a ton of information... i joined a while back but never got to posting because i am so busy with my 2 other forums, nybass.com and lunkerville.com, that i can't even find the time to post enough there... and the only reason i became aware of this thread is because it popped up on my google alert for lunkerville... which i'm glad it did, because this is a terrific place... well done folks!

Welcome Mike.

That video I sent you is old news. We ended up doing 25 videos for '06 and with each one, our knowledge of movie maker got a little better too. Big fish came in pretty consistently this year, when you're ready, let's give this "little fish" misnomer a kick in the butt New England style.

If you have time, surf thru these and let me know if any of that footage is somthing you would want to use. It's all virgin to the public. They were made for and viewed exclusively by the members of BR and Hawgz only.

LBH VIDEOS

Again, great show, fantastic grass roots format,...KEEP IT REAL!!
