Had alot of that here over the last 5 years. My sister was killed in a car wreck on Easter sunday 2001. Since then I think about when the "next" one will be, even though it might never happen. Not a day goes by that I don't think about it, but it gets better, went from think about 24/7 5 years ago, to just a minute or 2 a day now, maybe that a good thing though as I find my self taking far less risk's and chances than I used to. I know it might sound corny and cliche' but think good thought's man..........this is the kind of thing that can drag you into a deep dark hole that you need help getting out of.

I'm feeling you LBH! Some say these feelings of doom we have are created in our own minds and can become a self fulfilling prophecy if we don't get control of them. Others say different. I'll admit I don't know either way. I think I know just how you feel though. Maybe we all do.

i get what i call an "impending feeling of doom" regularly.  usually dosent pan out and may just mean im a basket case.  anyhow thats too bad about your car, but as far as the sort of things you were considering its pretty good, at least all the people in your life are safe and secure.

i think craws right that these feelings can be a self fullfilling prophecy.  i also think that we can tap into our subconcious for clues that all is not well and that can be where the feeling comes from.

In the spirit of trying to keep it light,

there is a point at which we realize that we are not "invicible" that the circle of life includes trajedy and death.

Maybe that awareness has started to kick in.

Things will get back into balance soon.

I have no doubt I will see you at Lake Fork.

avid.

PS. Just as an FYI. It is feelings like these that can turn a confirmed bachelor into someone who is looking for a mate.

Something to ponder.

I think it's important to remind ourselves that regardless of how oppressive some Negative Feelings may appear,

they are only paper-thin. Objectively though, we also need to realize that happy and positive feelings may also be paper-thin.

This may be why I'm not much of a "High-Five" kind-of-guy, because I feel that it's safer to maintain a more neutral stance,

one that's better postured for whatever life may throw our way. Does that make me a crotchety old man...Gee, I hope not :)

My whole family came home at around 8:pm on Oct. 7, 2000. We had been out to Walmart shopping and getting a fast food dinner (a favorite activity for us). I fell asleep on the couch while my wife and two daughters played UNO at the kitchen table. Life is good. At about midnight I woke up to what sounded like thunder. My wife of 22 years was having a seizure. It came out of nowhere. Turns out to be the most aggressive brain tumor you can have. 15 months later she was gone to be with the Lord.

We live in broken world full of uncertainty. I credit my relationship with Christ, my very strong, dedicated church family and my hope for eternity for being able to cope with this kind of loss. I wish that for you guys also. I read Romans 8:28 from the bible when I get that feeling.

I hope this helps.

LBH, I know exactly how you are feeling.  I have had those days also.  When I do, I turn to family, friends and God to help me fight it.   I , also,  think about that part of the movie "City Slickers"  and remember my best day.  And it helps drive those bad feelings away.

Those feelings can really drag you down if you let them.

However, if that does not work I go fishing.  That always clears the head.   ;)
