Spinnerbait storage

Featured Replies

I've been using Plano spinnerbait (3600 size) boxes for a year or so now and they work ok for 1/4oz spinners but not the bigger sizes.  I've looked at a couple different binders (BPS/Cabellas) but haven't been sold yet.  Cabellas hasa TUB solution that appears to be some kind of binder in the 3600 or 3700 size to fit in with most soft tackle bags.  Is there a great solution out there that I just haven't stumbled across yet?  what are you guys using for spinnerbait and/or buzzbait storage?

I agree that box is a real space saver! ;)

I still use my old Tacklelogic wrap. I can cram about 40 in there.

I use plano for my small spinner baits.Too many bigger baits  eventually bend  the dividers. For my 3/8 and1/2 oz. spinnerbaits I use a falcon folding wallet.

Are you referring to the Plano box that Burley mentioned, the 3714?

Falcon boxes are nice, but they don't hold enough.

I have an older Plano hanging box that I have about 50 baits in and a few double buzzers that fit. Baits hang on slotted cards and a strap clamps them secure. Not sure if it's made anymore.

Newer model with storage on top.

Like the one above though as it will fit in my bag.

I use a 3700 size TUB Binder.

It's convenient for several reasons:

1) Already in a 3700 size, so it fits in any standard 3700/370 bag/box. This is one of the biggest issues I have with most spinnerbait specific storage options. Spinnerbaits don't fit well in common boxes and spinnerbait boxes don't always easily fit into common bags/boxes. The few that do tend to be unique. Some store safety spin style well, but only safety pins....etcetera.

2) It's modular. I store extra spinnerbaits in extra sheets and just swap them out depending on my needs that day.

3) It allows you to carry extra parts, such as skirts, rings, blades, and tools. Everything I need for spinnerbaits is in one location.

4) Baits are easy to see. Most storage solutions for spinnerbaits make it hard for me to see what bait it is I want.

5) I like to use one of the TUB binders as a mini-tackle box for shore fishing. I can quickly add spinnerbaits by swapping out my sheets and have a nice, compact storage option that easily holds any (or all) of the spinnerbaits I want that day. It isn't easy to just store 5 spinnerbaits with other gear. Most spinnerbait storage solutions are made to hold 20-30 of them. Having the option to swap in binder sheets for spinnerbaits is a lovely option.

I love spinnerbaits and originally went to the TUB binder as a means to store spinnerbaits easily. But after doing so, I started to realize just how great the TUB is over a regular binder. It's an expensive (albeit well made) storage binder that just happens to double as a tackle box. ;D

All my spinnerbaits and buzzbaits are in a binder. They have never been so organized.

Falcon

I have never been satisfied with anything but a binder.  For not only my spinner/buzz baits but also soft plastics.  Store like colors in the same sheet of the binder, and your good to go.

I modified a couple Plano 3700 boxes with a Dremel so they're set up similiar to the Falcon boxes (but mine holds more). After seeing the boxes Burley suggested, I may have to check these new Plano boxes out! Better concept, IMO. Thanks for sharing that Burley!
