Hardest part of the Water Coloum to Fish

Featured Replies

Hey Fellas I noticed 2 threads one asking about Shallow Water and One about Fishing deep water. While both offer challanges, and I am far from expert I think it's harder dealing with suspened fish, especially to find em. What are other peoples thoughts on this?

Suspended bass.

If they are busting the top, nearly every class of lure is an option.

Most of the time, something on or near the bottom will pick up a bass or two, sometimes a biggun'.

But fish in suspension are often neutral or inactive. In theory, these fish may be following baitfish schools, but for the most part they are in the fish equivalent of asleep. If you randomly place a lure close or hit them in the face, they MIGHT bite, but not always. Suspending bass are the hardest fish to catch.

I agree suspended bass are the toughest bass to catch.I have found (2) reliable ways to catch them.

(1) Fish at night when they are not so spooked.

(2) If the bass are suspended in 15' of water, strip off 15' of line and add a bobber.I usually fish this with a small Maribu jig as it will give off good action with the slightest ripple on the water.

Agreed.  Suspended fish are the toughest.

Maybe its just because I have really just started seriouslly concentrating on bass in the past few months, but I have a problem in water any deeper than 10ft. I just don't seem to be able to hook a bass any deeper than that.

The hardest part of the water column for me to fish is the one without any fish in it!  ;)

I ain't never seen no bass in suspenders but thems whats in the middle just hangin there is sure hard to ketch.
