New BPS Tournament LTD Baitcast Reels

Featured Replies

I was just wondering what you guys thought of this reel. I know the rule when buying fishing gear is that you get what you pay for but there are a few exceptions like the BPS extreme reel. I was just wondering if this reel will be another exception to the rule. For 40$ and having 10 bearings and good looks i figured id ask you guys what you thought about it.

No clue, but remember bearing count doesn't mean anything. Bearing placement and quality is what matters. Most of those 10 bearings are going to be crammed into useless places, I would be willing to bet.

I always read the reviews for any product. While the reel gets five stars, that's for only two reviews.

I did notice however, that one of the reviews says it's a good backup for the extreme.

The kicker is that first impressions can be misleading. A smooth new econo reel may quickly become a coffee grinder with regular use.

With any new econo product, when it first hits the market its a case of you pay your dollars, and take your chances.

Using it as a backup is one thing. Using it regularly is another.

The new extreme is 80 dollars, but the old version can be had for 60 bucks. I'd spring for the extra 20 to have a time tested product.

Not sure about this one, but I am a HUGE fan of the Extreme.  I don't think the Extreme can be beat for the money-even though they raised the price a little this year.

I had the chance to fish with an Elite Pro, and I was not sure my setup was good for spinnerbaits (i am kinda new), so the Pro made some casts with it, and was very impressed with the quality.  Then when I told him the low price for the combo for  he was even more impressed.

I say save up a little bit more and just get the Extreme!  Save even more and get the Extreme reel and Rod combo!

So true, a lot of cheaper reels feel great and really smooth at first but in a month or two you can hear them across the lake. The Tournament LTD might turn out to be a great reel but until its been reviewed and used more I would save up for an extreme like Fishing Rhino said. Remember, a cheap product isn't a value if you have to replace it in a month.

Might be O.K if you don't fish 300 days a year but be wary of any reel with a graphite frame. Not too strong.

I too love the Extreme's. Great value on a great reel.

Thanks guys, i will most likely invest in a better reel but i figured i'd ask about this reel first, thanks.

I actually bought one and decided that I would take it back and get a better one.

If you can make it to BPS this weekend the 14th they are having the Quantum Accurist PT for $ 49.95, last year this reel was $ 130. That's a good reel and definately worth $ 50 bucks, good luck to ya though.
