Who is a member of bassmaster's?

Featured Replies

Ex-member. I quit when they had boat racing as part of the tournament results. I don't forgive and forget >:(

Man you can hold a grudge.Actually I didn't like it either. It didn't last verry long. That was about the time they parted ways with Ranger. I don't know if that was the cause but I'd bet it was.

I have been a member for several years.

Add me to the list.  :)

i like the magazine and the articles they have. i became a member about two months ago and i have not yet received my first magazine. i did receive a member's package that comes with sticker and a patch and like coupons to rental cars and other stuff. i like that now i can join their tournament at amistad, or i will try at least. i like the conservation approach they have.  i think for the $15 you pay it's not bad at all. oh and i got a membership card and supposely you can get discounts on tackle with the card or something....  8-)

oh and they send me a small B.A.S.S. tackle bag for free... pretty handy bad 8-) :P

I'm a member......currently.  I was a paying member until for some reason they stopped sending me magazines last February even though I was paid up through another year and a half!  I called repeatedly and got nowhere until I finally cancelled my membership 3 months later in May after having received NO magazines from Feb. on to cancellation.  Then they offered a free membership to make up for it which I took but didn't think I would get the magazines from that one either........for now I seem to be getting them though.

I do like the magazine overall though.  It's great actually, all except the tournament coverages which make up about 1/2 of it it seems.  I don't much care for reading all the angler stats and who won what and all that.  Really I liked the old Bassmaster better.  But I take what I can get and the "Day on the Lake" piece is awesome, it's what I look forward to reading the most.

I'm also a member of Bassin' magazine, which is close to being as good as Bassmaster is but you don't get as many issues per year, and you don't get quite as much to read in those either.

Mostly I'm like one other person I saw on here who likes to read at night before bed......that's me too and between Bassmaster and Bassin' I have enough to keep busy.  Otherwise, the stuff they've sent me besides the magazine is cool, the tackle bag and the hat I mean, those are nice.

By the way, who else misses reading the "Harry and Charlie" comic that used to be in the magazine??  That little columb they replaced it with is mostly stupid, the original was way better.

I just joined as well I am getting a free tackle bag and it was only $1.40 per issue.  Great deal.

There's always a copy of Bassmaster next to the TP.

I enjoy most of the regular features (Day on the Lake, what's it worth, Homer Circle...)

former member. only stopped because i moved overseas. its cheap, why not? kills time on the can.

not very fond of the tournament coverage however...

rather see more product reviews, tips and tricks, techniques etc

Just joined.  My club requires it to fish in state qualifiers.  I also enjoy every bit of info given and knowing some of the money is going to help protect the sport I love.  I feel 15 dollars is a small price to pay to help future anglers enjoy the sport as I do.  Still waiting on my first magazine though. :(  G

Im a member, have been since November of 06 which is like right when they changed so I dont know what it used to be like but I really enjoy them. like some others said my favorite article is "Day On The Lake" and I personally like the tournament coverage, I like reading what rods/reels ext. the pros use for diffrent techniques :)

I'm a member. The magazine is great. Everyone posts about "what you get" but don't forget you're getting a lot more than you might think. B.A.S.S has done more for this sport than any other organization.

Things like:

  • Promoting catch-and-release.
  • Lobbying the government to maintain and improve lakes specifically for anglers.
  • Protecting angler rights.
  • Tournaments that in the end drive innovating fishing baits and techniques.

Without your membership money none of this is possible.

"Did" more for this sport than any other organization. I joined in 1974. It was a very worthy organization. Now the magazine and organization is a necessary evil in order for ESPN to run the televised tournaments under the BASS moniker.

When BASS started treating the Federation ranks like gum on the bottom of their shoes, it was obvious they had no intention of continuing to lead in worthy conservation efforts nationwide since many of those projects were due to the hard work of the Federation membership.

I dropped my membership a couple years ago. The magazine is merely rehashed hash that's been repeated over and over.

Harry and Charlie are gone?

Maybe Don Wirth got tired of writing them.  He had been doing the stories for over 34 years.  He probably ran out of ideas.  Cliff Shelby used to do the artistry.

I got a Harry n Charlie hat a number of years ago for contributing a tip to the bargain anglers tip section.  You used to get a H & C hat for a tip that made it to print.

Yea i sent them a check last week, they said it could take 4 to 6 weeks to process my memebership! >:(

I use the magazines to make it through the winter months.  Day on the Lake is the best part of the magazine!

Life Member since 1975.   ;)

>:( im still waiting on my first freaking issue! i've been waiting now for about two freaking months maybe more. i need to freaking call somebody!

ddigit - How does one become a Life Member of BASS?

Back then there was 2 or 3 different memberships on the membership sign up card, if I remember right a 1year, a 2year and a lifetime. For the lifetime you paid a total of $300 $150. down and the rest in time with no sign up gifts until balance was paid.

:)

Member here. My favorite article is "A Day On The Lake." It's where a pro angler is taken to an unknown body of water. I find it surprising how often so few fish are caught.

By far my favorite article as well.  This is the first thing I look for when I first open up the magazine.  I skim it first, then thoroughly read it through.  I love seeing what the pros get themselves into.

i really enjoy the mags .ive kept most of them an re read them year after year. when spring is here i thumb threw them all an pull out all related mags.an so on an so forth.an not only that you can join a club an improve your skills. an all the other tournaments your able to get into from there . like the ohio federation nation is great those tournaments are low price an great reward. an they are also ran great you couldnt ask for more
