Beginners References

Recommended Posts

I know this is the place to come for a little advice...specifically where to pick up some good references on bass fishing techniques.   I have to admit I do not know as much as I would like to and do not catch the amount/quality of fish others do so I am reaching out for a little guideance.

Any pointers to good information would be much appreciated.  I thought I would start here rather than go to BPS and just buy DVDs.

Thanks!

I really like fishing but my job has me in a location where only small, hard fished, lakes are around.  Fishing can be frustrating.  The bigger lakes are so busy in the summer with recreational boaters it is no use going out...too worried about getting hit by other boats.

I would be willing to take weekend trips but am not too familiar with lakes in Indiana or Illinois that would be worth driving to.

So...request would be for tips for heavily fished lakes and finding fish in shallower lakes (say under 20').  Also, recommendations on lakes in Indiana to fish would be appreciated.

Steve I would suggest you start in two places:

1. Upper left hand side of the home Page: Fishing Articles click away there is a lot there

2.FAQ section as there are threads to go to from there

Then jump in and ask away , but i would strongly recommend you read some stuff there first.

"Fishing Articles" is the place to start, then "Tacklebox"

also at the top. We have a thread currently running

a few lines down in this section, "All Time Favorites",

which I'm sure you will find helpful, too.

You'll learn alot from guys who share the same passion as you do.  This is a great place to start.  If you got questions, there's no doubt somebody here has the answers.

I learned quite a bit from videos as well.

Do you have a boat? If you are fishing from shore, that will be challenging in that part of IN.

A watermelon senko type bait wacky rigged will work in just about any lake you go to in this state. Also a lipless crank bait is a good search lure for your shallow areas.

I am familiar with some of the lakes in the north central and north west protiion of the state but not too many where you are.

For new questions, please start a new topic.  In this case, your new question should be posted in the Northeast Bass Fishing forum.
