Forum So Slow

Featured Replies

Is anyone else having issues with the speed of the forums?.  It seems like it takes forever for every page to load.  At least for me it is so slow that it makes me not want to use the forums.

Tom

Nope mines working fine, check your internet connection

I have the slowest highspeed you can get and I've been flying thru the forum all morning, no problems. ;)

I would have expected more power from someone named after a turbo diesel

my internet is fine

just so you know Staples is now doing computer speed checkups for free and they clean up your computer for you

Try running your disk cleanup program.

Then run your diskcheck program.

Open my computer

Right click on your hard drive C.

Click on properties. Then click on the tools tab in the window that opens.

You should find two options that will speed up your computer. First is the check disk. Click on check now.

Put a check in both boxes. Automatically fix file system errors. And the second, Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

Then click start.

You will get a message telling you that the disk cannot be checked now.................................................Do you want to schedule this disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer. Click yes.

The next time you start your computer, it will run the program. It can take a while to run, so do it when you won't need your computer for a while.

Under tools, you'll also find defragmentation. Run this program when you go to bed, or are going out. It can take hours.

What it does is put all the files for a program into the same area, so the computer does not have to scan the disk for every file.

Think of your dinnerware in the kitchen. Imagine the forks in an upstairs bathroom, the knives in the basement. the spoons in the garage.

Every time you eat, you must run all over to gather the utensils. A hard drive is much the same. You run a program and save a file. The computer basically puts it where it is at that moment.

Defragmentation, gathers up the spoons, forks and knives you need to eat, and puts them together in one place. Saves the time it would take your processor to gather all the info it needs for its operation on a program.

I'm having the same problem but in waves.  Fort a couple hours it will take 1/2 a minute to load, 45 secs if its the reply box.

Then,...like right now, it will be fine

I have problems in waves too, but only on my wireless router computer not the hard wired one. I think it could be your router too if you are using one. Ive never had less that lightin fast on this forum on the hardwired computer.

Thanks for all the replies.  This is the only forum I am having problems with.

By the way my original username name was cummins5.9.  I was sent an email saying it was an inappropriate name since there was no "g" in it and to please change it.

It's the Larry the Cable Guy Ad!

No Larry, site runs fine.  Larry,  site drags.

No problems here, I do need to visit this site more often though.

It is creeping along for me right now.  This is the first problem I have ever had with this site.

Other sites work just fine.
