What do you guys think about wearing ipods/mp3 players when fishing?  Do you think it makes a long day with no fish bearable? Or, do you think that it should be man and nature, with no music?

I've tried, I get distracted and notice I start humming the music and I've missed fish because I'm not totally concentrated.

I say no. Plus I like the solitude especially back in a creek.

I do not use an I-Pod when I am on the water.  There is no reason other than I do not feel like I concentrate as good when I have music going.

When the fishing sucks and there is NO way to save the day, i'll listen to the tunes.  Makes a horrible day more enjoyable.

No for me if I am alone.  sometimes if I am out with a few friends we will have a radio on the boat playing music. Often when this is the case it is a hot summer day with bluebird skies and the fishing trip quickly turns into a swimming trip. Other times we are focused on fishing only and have no music.

I do not want the distraction. I can listen to music anytime, but not when I'm fishing.

One thing I hate is when it's hunting season and I'm so busy I can't be in the woods regularly. When I finally get in I realize my nerves are raw and there's music in my head and the feeling of car traffic in my veins. It takes me some time to let it all drain.

I've gotten pretty fired up listening to the IPOD. Its saved some tough days of fun fishing. I focus much better with music playing but thats just me. I'm against it on tournament days when i need my ears to hear for a splash of a fish or bird, squirrels, frogs or anything moving about.

I love the sounds of nature, and if some lunker jumps out of my vision, I can locate the source by the disturbed water and cast to it.

Earphones or headset on and you might miss it.

I enjoy the sounds of the breeze in the trees, the birds, insects, frogs, and even the kids at play.  Brings back memories.

Heightens your senses and keeps you alert.  Staying alert enhances your chances for success.

Ipod in my truck for when I'm on the road.  Mostly for audio books.  Have some music.  XM for anything else.

Part of the beauty of fishing is the sound of nature.  I don't want to ruin it by listening to an Ipod.  Now if I was on a big lake and there was a ton of boat traffic, jetskis, etc., I might reconsider.  Most of my fishing is done from a jonboat on smaller reservoirs and ponds, so outside noise is not a problem.

No Ipod for me when I am fishing.  Part of the reason I fish is to enjoy the ambience of nature around me and to focus all my attention to the task at hand so that I can have that period of escape from the real world.

There 's no more beautiful and celestial music than the sounds of nature ....... well, unless your lake is right next to the highway and to the international airport like Grapevine Lake is, been to that lake and ----->  

I don't have an IPod, however, I often turn on the stereo on the boat.

Considering how many times i hear a fish, or bait, or birds every time i am on the water...........i would never consider wearing headphones......crazy talk.

i am a diehard music junky.....Over 2800 cd's  2 mp3 players and an iphone loaded up....But never once considered plugging in while fishing.

I've tried it once but didn't care for it. I find when I use it while cutting grass, it makes the time go by quicker which while fishing, the time goes by too fast as it is.

Also, I don't want to miss the sound of some lunker boiling on something. The bass in my avatar was caught because I heard her chasing bait.

No. I am too scared of dropping it in the water. Also, I found myself humming or hearing songs that are stuck in my head while fishing. Sometimes it's one song all day that I will keep coming back to.

What is an Ipod?  I'm still using my 8-track player.

But seriously, no.  I don't listen to music while I'm fishing.  But if I did, I'd be courteous and use an Ipod (with earphones) rather than forcefeed my noise onto other lake recreators.

An ipod i would say no, but a radio that isn't real loud definetly yes....With out the headphones on you can still hear around you so you are still aware if a fish jumps.  Music makes everything better and fishing is no different.
