color for jig and trailer

Featured Replies

Blue and black with either a blue or black trailer.  Either 3/8oz or 1/2oz preferably.

Later,

Depends on water clarity

Clear to slightly stained water: 1/4-3/8oz Grn. Pumpkin colored jig with a camo colored trailer.

Stained to muddy water: 1/4-1/2oz. Black/Blue colored jig with a Blue trailer

Black/black or brown/brown.

1)green pumpkin, not the brownish color but the kinda 3/4 green-1/4 tan and a watermelon trailer.

2)black and blue matching trailer.

A lot more but those are frequent flyers.

Last few years I have used PB and Jelly and green pumpkin, but Black and Blue is hard to beat. It seem to work in any water color.

I agree with everyones choice on the clear water but let me toss this oddball out.

Stained water Black/Blue

Muddy water Black/Red

I dont know if this works for anyone else but it seems to work for me.

Stained water- Black/Blue Eakins w/ GY Flappin Hog same color

Clear Water- Green Gourd Eakins w/ GY Flappin Hog Green Pumpkin

Dirty stained Water-Stanley 1//2 ounce Rattlin jig Black/Blue w/GY Flappin hog same color

Stained water, muddy water, crystal clear water ----> black

Trailer ? : choose whatever color you like.

Last year the lakes and ponds around me were either crystal clear or muddy. In the clear water I used a blue/black jig and in the muddy water I used a black jig. In the muddy water I used a black trailer, but in the clear water I had to play around and see what the bass wanted. Sometimes it was a blue trailer and sometimes they wanted some contrast.
