Incredible shrinking bass

Featured Replies

It's a very strange phenomenon.  Everytime I catch a "good" bass and then take a picture of it, it subsequently shrinks to as much as half it's original size.  :(

The camera may make me seem bigger but it always makes my fish smaller.  I'm going to stop taking pictures so I can at least continue to lie to myself.

Stick the fish right up into the camera lense. That should make it look bigger  ;)

I just hold mine out, and try to get entire fish in picture, usually always makes it look pretty accurate.

Just take a picture of the fish hanging from the scale. Problem solved. :)

True, most accurate scales tend to shave a pound or five off big fish. ;D

In the case of most of my bass, it isn't just a shave, it's a buzzcut. ;)

Forget the scale, get a great angular lens, problem solved.

It's just bad karma. When you carry a scale and/or camera,

the "little" 4's and 5's just become more aggressive. The 8's

and 9's just can't get to the bait quick enough.

"Little" 4's and 5's???!!!!  I guess my karma is bad.  My personal best (after 35 years of fishing) is still only 6 lbs.  Ok, I think I'll bury my head in the sand now.  :'(

I 'm positive that my camera is jinxed ( reason why I don 't carry it ), whenever I 've had the idea of taking it I don 't catch anything worth taking a picture of, when I leave it home I do much better.

Too funny!  Either I need to inflate my bass or shrink the rest of the world.

This same phenomenon happens to me when I put fish in the livewell in tournaments.  I catch what I think is a 5 and by the time I get him to weigh in 4 hrs later he is 4.  The worst is when you catch a big one in the first hour.  He has 8 hrs to shrink then!  ;D
