If you do not you could be missing out on great fishing or going to get yourself into trouble.

Walmart is horrible about carrying or giving out the handbooks. I didn't get one last year and the lady behind the counter couldn't find em'.

i do and carry the Texas P&W handbook in my truck. Being on the coast and not saltwater fishing very much is is necessary if you decide to hit the salty stuff several times a year.

Laugh if you want. I grab several of the free copies that you can get at tackle stores. One always has a place at the back of my throne  ;D which is where my serious reading takes place. New Jersey always highlights or prints in red type changes from the previous regs.

I always catch and release unless I am going for trout or anything saltwater. Not really sure why I read up because I have never seen a fish and game officer or even heard of somebody getting in trouble.
