Why does everyone buy the lures that win The Classic

Featured Replies

I dont even know what bait won. LOL  I know its a crank.  I think. ;D

Anyway,  it is definitely amusing, but it does drive business.

On Glenns senko comment.  Has this lure really ever won a high profile tourney?

I have been guilty of this in the past. This year not so much. I came to the realization that, 1. These guys spend a heck of a lot more time on the water than I would ever be able to. and 2. They are working directly with the manufacturers and I am almost posotive that while the baits they are throwing may have the same name ; they are more than likely 100% customized to the particular angler's desires.

That being said if you buy them and have confidence in them, more power to you.

I don 't think that SK or whatever brand is going to customize baits specailly for X or Y angler. I 'm picky about what I fish with, you may see in my box the same baits you have but my baits are not the everyday bait you pick from the shelf, they were selected by me for having the kind of action that catches fish, I may purchase a bunch of, in theory, "identical" baits and after testing them I only keep those that have the peculiar action I want, the rest are given away, sometimes I get 1-2 baits out of a dozen but most of the times I don 't get so lucky. Pros do the same, they select baits from a bunch, add that to such a talent a KVD and you got a manufacturer 's sale dream.

Haha I'll admit to getting into this following. I study what he does on just about every lake he fishes and from time to time I decide that a technique will work for my style. Fishing is a continued learning process and the pros are a great example to follow. Of course there is alot that goes into fishing but I'm not afraid to try an off the wall or classic winning approach if it could workout. It's maybe a twenty dollar investment to give it a try. Lol I can live with that. You never know when you'll find a technique that will take you to another level.

I think its great that people go out and buy these.  When I'm fishing against a guy in a tournament, and he's burning a red eye shad in a shallow creek channel in the dead of July because he watched his DVR'd Classic coverage for the 127th time to get prepped for his big day, then I'm a happy camper.

;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm definitely disappointed that he won with that bait and in the area he did.  Because of our shallow water and usually heavy grass a crankbait is not even in many people's tacklebox down here.  Which I love cause it benefits me greatly.. Now everyone will be throwing it no matter what.. and now I can't even get my boat in cataouache.

I currently have a few of the academy baits in the chart/black back because of our usually stained water.. I would love to try out these new Kvd's 1.5's to check the action but there is no way to find them now.  This bait applies to me because I fish this area.  I don't understand why someone fishing lake Erie in deep crystal clear water would want to purchase a chartruese shallow running crankbait..
