New Angler from Western NC

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm new here. The reason I joined is because I was looking up information with Google on one of our local lakes, and why I wasn't catching anything there.

One of the links came here, and after reading I just had to join and post a few messages, but I'm still rather unknown so I think it is time for me to post my introductory message.

I am 18, soon to be 19, and I live in Western North Carolina... I don't have much fishing experience, but I love it. I just haven't been able to do it much until now.

I am extremely inexperienced. I'm just now starting to use spinnerbaits, or try to, anyway. I've been fishing 5 times this past month or two, and still haven't caught a single fish... I think it's because of the weather and the spots. Everything around here is usually fished hard because there aren't many places TO fish.

Another problem is that most of the streams and rivers around here are being taken up by swimmers..

That really burns me, because about 5 years ago I used to fish those streams and they were good to fish. Now you can't wet a hook in them because of the people. They need to either mark them "No Swimming Allowed" or "No Fishing Allowed" because it's lame to go so far and can't do anything because of swimmers, so it limits our fishing to the lakes, and there's only 2 around here that are sort of close...

Anyways... rant over.. back to my inexperience..

I don't know a split-shot to a swivel to a bobber-stop, or how to use any of this stuff. What I've been using mostly so far are soft baits with sinkers and a bobber..

I've had about 10 individual bites/nibbles over the span of fishing trips I've went on.

I'm going to catch a fish, though. I don't care what it is. Trout, bluegill, catfish, bass. Anything will do, as long as it's a fish, is alive, and won't eat me.. lol  ;D  ;)

I've been looking around here. This place is great. There's a lot of advice and discussion and the articles have given me a lot of knowledge. Now if I could just get it all together.. lol

My name is taken from the NBA. I am a fan of Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat. My other favorite teams are the Cavaliers and the Hornets.

I am also a big race fan and my favorite drivers are Tony Stewart, Dale Jr. and Carl Edwards...

I hope I can make my and our time enjoyable here.

Thank you for your time and if you need anything just ask.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  ;)  Welcome!

Hey Man! Greeting for Gastonia. Whereabouts in western NC you from? I do a huge chunk of trout fishing out near Linneville and a ton of Bass fishing here in Gaston.

Welcome! This is a great site for the inexperienced bass fisherman. This place will have an answer for every single one of your questions. I'm from Kings Mountain, NC but just recently moved to Beaufort, SC. Still trying to get used to it down here but there are plenty of spots in Western NC for bassin'. Just keep your eyes and ears open and you'll find em. Also just keep looking on this website and trying new things out and you will get better with time. It takes time so be patient.
