Im new to fishing with jigs and some of the skirts i have on my jigs, they up past the lead head, some of the strands of the skirt dont fold down like the rest. Im not sure if im explaining my question well so ill post some pics. I was wondering if one was better than the other or if both of them work just as well.

most of the time I throw a jig that doesnt stick past,  in the late spring to fall on a bigger fish bite I will throw a full skirt.  

Really depends on the profile I want to create.

I like finess jigs alot (skirt sticks past) for colder water.  Slows the rate of fall, looks alitle more natural, and aids in the jig to stand on end, sticking that crawfish trailer right in the fishes face.  

I would recomend finess jigs for crawfish immitation, the flared skirt at the head also profiles a crawfish tail.

i would recomend normal jigs for timber, they will slide over and through stuff better

I like the regular better, but if I need a smaller presentation I will cut the strands that stick out past the head on a finesse jig off, they pick up every piece of muck on the bottom at least for me. I really like doing this on the evolution jigs(because I ordered the finesse by mistake)
