Hey all,

After resisting for whatever reason for many year, I'm forcing myself to throw jigs this year and I'm actually having good success. Next step is finesse jigs. What trailers do you guys use on those? Somehow I get the idea that a Rage chunk may overpower a 1/8 or 3/16 oz finesse jig

Anyone use small shaky head worms for this? Seems like a way to combine a jig with a worm for the best of both worlds.

NetBait Tiny Paca Chunk trailers. At 2" they're the perfect size for smaller jigs. You can get them for $1.72 a bag at BPS online. I'm pretty sure the sale ended yesterday but they're still on the site today at that price.

Larger twister tail or just the tail off a 10" ribbon tail.

Baby Rage Craw is an option for you as well... Here's a photo comparison on size to the Craw (or Chunk).

Here's another comparison photo of a Baby Craw to a Rage Shrimp (Elaztech) adjusted to make a finesse jig trailer.. just crazy glue it up in the keeper barb and it last forever as well as floats the back of the jig up. Shhhh!!!! don't tell anyone...

Jewel Baits, which markets the Eakins jig also markets a crawdad trailer for that jg. It's more subtle, much less action than the paca chunks.

Big-O posted that bit sometime a while ago, and I gave them a shot. Works wonders. I also like the Baby craw and tiny Paca.

Paca chunk or rage chunk...NorthStar also makes a really awesome trailer that is perfect in cold water situations.

I just use the smaller zoom chunk myself or thread on a larger chunk so it glides some on the fall.

I like the Yamamoto fat baby craw and Yum craw papi 2.75in. But there are plenty of good choices out there these are my picks for a really finesse profile.

When I'm fishing a jig, about 90% of the time it's 1/4oz or less, so I guess I'm a finesse jig kind of guy.

My #1 trailer is the Rage Baby Craw. There's something about this plastic, on a small jig, that just works for me.

#2 choice is the tail piece of a Swim Senko. You have to see this combo in the water to believe what it does. I save torn up Swim Senkos just for this purpose.

#3, the back half of a Smokin Rooster. I save the torn up Roosters too. You will need to trim these up a bit to work with a small jig. A little experimentation will teach you how to do it.

A trimmed down Rooster is my #1 choice for jigs 3/8oz and larger.

Also, earlier in the year, when things weren't as warmed up, I was using a 1/16 Bitsy Bug w/ a Paca chunk trailer. Loved the subtle action. It fluttered down real softly.

My favorite trailer for small jigs is a Yamamoto 4" double tail grub. or 5" one. And if they want something with less movement I'll try the smallie beaver.

A tiny paca chunk, or a Zoom tiny salty chunk. If those don't work I have a bag of old plastic worms that have gotten too beat up to use on t-rigs or c-rigs.

Not to high-jack the thread, but do you use a trailer on a finesse hair jig? I would think not, that the hair serves the same purpose. I bought some and was wondering about that.

I like to use a Yum Craw Papi, a threaded Netbait Paca Chunk, 3" Senko, paddletail grub, or the tail of a finesse worm.

Been fishing a lot of down sized jigs lately and my go to combination is a bitsy bug or equivalent jig with either or double tail grub (3" PowerBait) or even better, a 3" Crazy Leg Chigger Craw. Lots of action on a really small trailer and Berkley has a good assortment of colors also.

Unfortunately, I have been only catching small fish so far but catching is better than not catching no matter what.
