Isn't that why you had kids?

Is the fishing in Jersey better when the grass is growing, or when it's dormant?

I've just started mowing the lawn and the bite is on. When it's cut for the last time, the fishing around here is about done, unless you're into ice fishing.

Are you sure you hate mowing the lawn?

Some of us started cutting our grass over a month ago. ;)

Not here in Chicago. The rain stopped last week only to start up again tonite for another week. Time to get some sun into the mix.

We have girls. So much for that.

This is the fourth time I've cut this year. A lot of rain + cool weather = lots of grass.

There will be no fishing for me this weekend. Mothers Day, I'm in the doghouse anyway and I leave for a 3 day job in New York City at 10pm Sunday night.

Yeah i agree. We have a small yard though so it only took a little bit longer to cut it. Was pretty wet though.

I hate cutting my own lawn. I'll be mowing lawns all summer after finals are over. After cutting 20 lawns I want to pour gas on my own.

We have had a very wet Spring here in S Illinois. I am mowing 4 acres counting the 12' wide strip around my 2 acre pond. I have to mow every 3-4 days. The lot we bought in Michigan is only an acre, going to be great to be able to mow the yard in 20 minutes. I'll have the rest of the day to fish, there is a boat ramp to a good bass lake 2 miles from my house..

Every week I mow my lawn, during the winter I can skip a week and mow it every two weeks, it won´t be that bad but the truth is I don´t like how it looks so any way I mow it weekly, but by Feb I have to mow every week no matter I like it or not; it becomes an impenetrable jungle if I leave it for more than a week.

I trim with the weed whacker every other cut and use a mulching mower. I refuse to apply fertilizers or other chemicals to my lawn. There's a price to pay for having a golf course lawn. Remember that when your favorite lake looks like pea soup at the end of July.

We've been in our house twenty years and my lawn has survived several bad droughts. It's always come back on it's own. Crabgrass and dandelions here and there are not the end of the world, despite what Scott's has to say about it... :P

Peat moss helps a lot for the lawn to survive drought. Mow short, apply peat moss, spread evenly with a broom so the moss gets underneath the grass and then water deeply, once wet the moss won´t allow the water to evaporate and maintain your lawn moist. when you mow the next three or four times don´t use the bag on your mower, allow it to mulch the trimmed grass, if you don´t mulch the mower will suck the peat moss and then instead of being where you wanted it ( on the lawn ) it will end up in the trash bag.

I have told my grandma that. As the person that has to take care of her lawn its a waste of money and time. Last year she put in a in ground sprinkler system. That means I have to mow her lawn 3-4 times a week now. At a hour of mowing and a hour of trimming it sucks.
