Looking For Suggestions

Featured Replies

Ill be deploying here in the next few monthes, and knowing that when i come back with some extra saved up cash, Im looking for ideas on a new rod and reel either combos or sepereate rod and reel....does anyone have good suggestions on where i should look, i used to fishing with a 6 ' med. action ugly stick and have used it for close to 5 years, figure its time for a new rod and reel....

What's the budget?

I personally would get a Pflueger President regardless of budget.

Depending on how much you want to spend, the rod is a different story.

If the Ugly Stik works for you, I would just get another, but maybe a little longer like 6'6" or 7'.

If you want a higher quality rod, but not too expensive, I would get a Berkley Lightning Rod or an Abu Garcia Vendetta.

This is all assuming you are talking about spinning rods and reels.

As much as it hurts to agree, this is great advice.

If budget is important and even if it isn't there are many great choices out there for $150. For freshwater I like a floog supreme 30 or 35,(don't need the xt ), shimano clarus or my new favorite a calico jack, which I'm using about 80% of the time.

I take back my first post. Do this! You could also try the Dobyns Savvy rods.

Shimano Sahara and Falcon or Castaway rod.
