I know a lot of beginners ask this but I am not a beginner ha I caught this bass 2 years ago and I weighed it on a pretty crappy scale. The scale said 9.6 but I put the length and girth into three different weight calculators and one said 11.1, one said 10.125, and another said 9.38. What do you guys think? Length-25 inches, girth-18 inches.

Assume your scale is accurate until you buy one that you think is more reliable. Have you confirmed that your present scale is not accurate? You have your weight, move on and go catch another, that fish is history, you can't weigh it again.

I don't think it's a double diget. Nine pounds would be stretching it.

I think its what the scale said it is, nice fish young man.

Those scales may be off a few ounces here or there but its nice fish and its in that range. One cant tell by photos.

9.6 sounds good, but like SirSnookalot said you should check to see how accurate that scale is. It's pretty hard to guess the weight of a fish that big because when a bass reaches a longer length (like 25") their weight can vary by quite a bit.

Call it a 9.6 and have a fond memory of it, my friend. If it's really killing you to know, take the 4 weights and average it, either way, it's a nice oinker indeed!

Length X Length X Girth divided by 1200

25 X 25 X 18/1200 = 9.375 pounds or rounded off, in fishing lingo, to 12 pounds!!!!

Try weighing some around the house, like a bag of sugar. If the bag says 5lbs & your scale reads 5lbs the its accurate!

id say 8 1/2 - 9 1/2

You calibrate a scale with a jug of water. A quart weighs 2.1 lbs and a gallon weighs 8.35 lbs. If it's accurate at 1,2, and 3 quarts and at a gallon, you're good to go. Factor in the weight of the jug, of course.

I routinely check my scale with a 5lb and a 10lb weight from my weight set.

It has always been dead on. If you check scale and it is off, adjust accorcdingly. That being said, nice fish but 2 years ago? Probably gained a few since then like the rest of us.
