I'm not knocking anyone I just can't grasp it even football or anysport on tv besides fishing that's a given. Id much rather be there in person iv never been one to sit home screaming at a tv because some player fumbled or missed a layup or what ever it may be.

I enjoy watching sports but only at home, cannot stand being around people screaming at a TV or acting like the home team winning/losing has an affect on their lives. I am almost 40 years old and still do not get people who after the home team wins proclaim "We won". Where is this "We" stuff, you had nothing to do with it...

Let's consider. To attend a sporting event, you have to contend with traffic, parking, the travel costs, the ticket costs, and the ungoshly sum for food (snacks), and beverage. Then, you may have to contend with unruly drunks, and the commercial timeout stoppages in play. I'd rather watch from the comforts of home.

Having said that, we do attend two or three NASCAR races per year, beginning with Daytona. But those are getaways, not just for the racing.

Funny thing is, All of the major stick and ball sports, and auto racing have better television ratings that fishing, and that includes the biggest tournaments. But, fishing does not lend itself to live coverage broadcasting. It would take way too many cameras to begin to cover it. Too spread out over many square miles. The other sports are contained to small areas.

I do enjoy golf and tennis on television.

"Fan" is short for fanatic. Just because you enjoy sports doesn't necessarily mean you are a fan.

Many of us are fans, however. ;)
