Is there anyone else ever gone through a phase in life where everything is just moving so fast that they lose their drive or passion for tournament fishing? I know I love fishing and aspire to be great at the sport but here lately it seems that everything with college and work and finances that I just can't even think about fishing like I used to. I just want a change of pace. I wish life would just slow down so that I could regain my drive to have greatness. Just wondering if their is anyone out there that has faced this phase in life and how they overcame adversity.

Sometimes life can get busy and we have to sacrafice some things we love for periods of time. College and finances should be your top priorities right now. Fishing will come. I dont know the statistics, but I would bet that most Elite Series guys have some sort of college education. If you go to college and get a better job, you will have much more time and money for fishing later on down the road, plus tournament fees. And believe me, there is plenty of fishing to be done in college. You gonna have Darbonne, Claboirne, and Oachita River all pretty close to ya up there.

During the early 80s I lost everything I owned in a divorce except my truck, tools, tackle & clothes. Stopped fishing/hunting for a couple years & went on a drinking/drug binge which cost me even more than the divorce. 1985 was reacquainted with & married my childhood friend, found Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. Together we have 6 kids & 6 grandkids!

Put your priorities in order now God, family, friends…the rest is lagniappe

I had the opportunity to meet Jeff Kreit at a sporting show. He has a great story about how he made it. to sum it up, he had a career and a family (so obviously he was busy) but he made it a point to push through and make it happen.

he tells it much better. and he is the most down to earth person you will ever meet. one reason he is my favorite

Thanks everyone for the support. I'm headed to Lake Dardanelle this weekend to begin prefishing. The highschool world finals are July 21st through 23rd. I've been researching and talking to people. Hoping to go up there and come back with a trophy.

Sorry to hear about the early 80's, but that is an awesome testimony and sounds like you have made the best of it since then. I am a Baptist Minister, so I get excited every time I hear someone like yours story!!
