Rage tails..huh...

Featured Replies

...quick question! Have yall any idea if rage tails would work with wading in the bay trying for some reds and speckled trout? Being serious dont laugh lol....

Here's an article that was written at Rage Talk this week....and I just got back from Baffin Bay Texas where we caught Reds and specks for two days using Space Monkeys, Rage Craws, Shad, Annies and some new RT saltwater stuff...and all in less than 4 ft of water.

I bought my ocean kayak, humminbird depthfinder, top of the line feathered carlisle kayak paddle, some new rage baits, and a sport PFD today in anticipation of hooking up with a buddy and his "mothership." He has a 30 ft long party barge with an indoors bridge and lounge. He is BIG time into kayak fishing and he's learned that the party barge (which his wife and kids love) is the perfect mothership to tie off a boatload of kayaks and kayak anglers in search of bull reds and massive schools of massive specs.

I met up with my friend and we put our kayaks on the custom hanging racks that he has built on the side of the mothership. We got everything ready to go and took off to some of the rigs in Big Lake. Once on scene, we dropped the kayaks and started paddling to the nearest rig.

I rigged up a space monkey on a stand up jighead and threw it out towards the rig. Within 30 minutes, I had culled the dr peppers out of my ice chest and replaced it with a limit of big speckled trout. David would have, but he was participating in a cajun sleigh ride.

He had used an anaconda (from my box) and hooked up with a monster redfish. That thing had his kayak planed off and was pulling him everywhere. For a minute, I thought I would have to dock up with the mothership and go chase him down, but the fish made a u turn on him. With some saavy rod work, he managed to keep slack out of the line as his boat spun on its axis and he reversed course towards the mothership. I paddled like crazy and got a hold on one of this tie-offs to give him some leverage. About 20 minutes worth of fighting, Dave pulled up a nice, HUGE redfish. Neither of us had a scale or a ruler that was big enough for this beast, so we laughed it off and let him go.

We finished his limit of specs off (25 per person) and tied off to the mothership. 15 minutes later, we were at a run off in the lake and back in the water after keeper sized redfish. The wind had picked up and a small storm was approaching, so we didn't venture far from the big boat. We did manage to get 6 keeper sized reds between the two of us on space monkeys.

I decided to go for some topwater action when I seen some bait fish jumping in a little cut. I tied on a shad and sent it sailing. On the first cast, I hooked up with a monster red of my own. He pulled me for a good 10 mins or so and ripped drag like crazy, but he surrendered to my custom g-loomis and I hauled him aboard. 29 inches long. Not quite a monster, but definitely a bull red.

In the end, we had 50 specs, 6 reds, and a mothership load of memories. Extreme fishing....definitely worth it. This is something that is going to keep me entertained for a long, long time. Big O, you might not a get a bass story out of me for awhile. We have our camping trip coming up, but other than that...I'm going after Big Head Reds!!

So yall use smoke for saltwater ....im thinking croaker and maybe flounder here on the RT craw

My big bro kills the Reds with an all white Rage Shad and a 5/0 SuperLine Gammy!!!!!

so how should i fish the craws that i got? would they be just as effective off a pier?

Watermelon red on the subsurface designs for the flats.....In the grass, I like keel weighted hooks for slow swimming or  jerk baiting them....put it in front of'em and they will eat'em. From a pier or dock, I'm not sure.

Now thats customer service ;D BTW Big-O, what reel is that in the pic? I'm looking to buy a baitcaster that can do double duty, fresh/salt. Thx

I catch reds and specks on zooms and 4" senkos, I think they would work. I think they would work unless the scent would turn them away. I doubt that would happen though.
