This is my first summer fishing the pond in my neighborhood which is a little over 3 acres and only about 8 feet in the deepest spot. I was catching good fish up until mid June and now can't get anything other than 3-4" bream to bite. I'm guessing the water temp is in the mid to upper 80's. Is there any reason to fish now (either early morning or late in the day) or just wait till the water and air cool off? Would it stress the fish too much if I did happen across one?

The fish are still there & will feed at sometime or react to your bait. I would say it's up to you on how much heat you can stand. Remember to drink plenty of water.

Buzzbaits and jitterbugs after dark. Deep crankbaits and slow rolled spinnerbaits in early morning/evening. Big worms and jigs work too. Sometimes it is better to go bigger in summer and other times it is better to fish smaller presentations. Keep changing until you figure out what they want.

Fishing has been pretty good around here despite 100+ degree temps for the last 2 weeks and water temps in the low 90's. It's way better early and late in the day but they'll bite all day long. I've been doing well with buzzbaits and jigs at night, swimbaits, shakeyheads, jigs, brush hogs, and squarebill cranks during the day.

I'm also in SC and have been fishing on my pond a good bit this summer. The heat is tough. I carry a few cold drinks with me out on my jon and try to fish the shades near the bank. This way both my jon and I are out of the sun.

I use white super flukes, c & t rigs, super spooks, and senkos for the most part. I'm not having near as much luck as I did in the spring, but I did catch a 6 pounder a couple weeks ago. They are few and far between right now but it has forced me to be a better fisherman to get the bites.

"Should I go fishin?" - there's a chance you might not catch any if you do - it's for certain that you won't catch any if you don't. I say go for it.

I'm in Greenwood, but have family in Anderson and Keowee.

I'd say night fishing is the way to go. I'm down here in the south too, and I can tell you I sure as hell dont enjoy being out in the heat fishing, especially after being in it all day at work.
