What Happened To My Senkos?

Featured Replies

so i had stayed at a family members house for about a week so when i came back home hallf of my senkos where dried up and hard. my guess is that my room got hot while i was gone and the only way to cool it down is to turn on my fans, which i wasn't there to do. im letting them sit in water right now to try and soften them, and im hoping it worls. anyone else have a similar experience

I never had that problem.

What kind of senkos? I've never had them happen to any plastics but berkly Gulp. Hope soaking them in water helps though, senkos (GYCB) ain't cheep.

Yep, I'm guessing "Senkos" in the generic sense. GY Senkos may get a little soft in the heat, but I have some that are several years old that are exactly the same as when the were purchased.

I have a gycb senko that's been sitting on my dash for over a month out of the bag its still good its there cuz my son likes to play with it and the slurpies beaver he calls em " fish bugs" helps keep him occupied in my car I just give em to him lol. Iv never had that issue with my trigger x stuff I have there lizards few are sitting in a box and the bottom of my bag all they did is loose there oily film so I coat with mega strike anyways

Gotta be the "Gulp" variety. Which is a good reason not to use that crap. There ain't nothing you can catch on Gulp, that I can't catch using something more reliable and less costly.

i make my own sticks (4" slim sticks) and i have them all over the boat, truck, outside, garage...NEVER had any of them dry out.

Are you sure they were senko's ?

I had some Trigger-X ones do it.

they were gycb senkos. they didnt harden like gulp does, they just got harder than usual. i still dont know what happened

try microwaving them for a few seconds at a time and see ...start with 1

I have never had any problems with Senkos so your experience is new to me.

I would not think heat would damage Senkos as I have had them in over 100 degree heat with out any problems.

Let us know if you can restore the Senkos.

May I suggust emailing GY and asking his company about the problem and if they have a solution. :)

Never had this issue either and mine are always in the back of my truck under a bed cover in the heat.

I've been using Senkos for the last 5 years and I throw my ripped Senkos in a box and they are left outside in the sun. I've never seen one get dried up or hard. The only soft baits I've had dry up are from Berkley.

Trigger x flutter worms and minnows are the worst for drying up. Berkley gulp is a close second and I got a bucket of 3' berkley hawgs and the things are a bit hard with crappy action.

I have a senko that has been sitting on top of my computer for a few years. No clue why its there. Its covered in dust and its still soft. I also have ones in bags that I know are at lest 6 years old that have been opened. I have never had that happen.

Tight line lures get some what hard as well.

Were they soaked in anything prior to putting them in the bag? I have 3 different brands that my son plays with in the back of the truck. They have been there for months in the sun weather etc and are still soft.

i never leave my soft plastics in extreme heat or extreme cold. i don't know if it affects them but i would not take the chance. some people leave their whole tackle bag in the trunk of their car all season
