Nope matter of fact I get less bites. Then there are days it really doesn't matter what color your hook is they'll still bite.

I've never had a day where red hook were the ticket into getting more bites. So I really don't buy into it much.

not true at all

No proof that red hooks catch more fish.

The only reason I have red hooks is beacause they are easier to find.

I have several packs of red worm hooks and have used them on mumerous occasions, but haven't noticed any difference in strikes.

If you like 'em, use 'em. If not, don't.

The only reason I have them is because they kind of fell out of favor a couple years ago, so I was able to pick up a bunch of packs on clearance.

I have tested this theory time and time again while guiding and I've never seen an advantage to using red worm hooks. But I do use red treble hooks on my clear Super Spook Jr's. I use a clear spook because I don't want the bass to get a good look at my lure in the clear water. I use a red hook on the front to give the fish something to aim at and I almost always catch them on that red hook. It helps me to have some control of where the fish strikes and I get better hook-ups because of it.

I have a big bunch of red hooks, couldn´t find regular hooks that time I went shopping at Academy, so, well I was already there, I needed the hooks and they were 50 cents cheaper per pack than regulars so I stocked up. Do they produce more fish ? ----> NO.

I don't think it makes a difference, my 2/0s I have in red my 3/0s are not. I keep it that way I can tell the difference when I reach into my tackle box.

I use red hooks with red colored baits. Not that I get more fish, but I like to match cool.gif

It doesn't take long for red hooks to get chipped up and turn gold, so I'm not a fan.

No real difference except they usually cost more.

Steve, good question.

Two inputs to a reply.

1. Red changes to a dark color the less light you have and supposedly the bass see the darker color easier. Plus the fact that red is suppose to immitate gills or a bleeding bait.

2. Try hooking your Carolina Rig presentation from the side to give it a different action.

Just a suggestion. ;)

I get the same amount of bites with normal hooks, than i do with red hooks. After about 3 fish, the pain rubs off and the hook turns goldish.
