I have seen various posts in the past talking about good bass fishing books, but when I searched its hard to narrow down the threads.

Does anyone have any books that are their favorite for quality info?

Charlie Brewer: Slider Fishing. Awesome book, full of good info. I 've read this book a dozen times over the years.

In-Fisherman Critical Concepts Largemouth Bass books 1, 2, & 3.

This site has more information than any other book I've ever read...

But I know sometimes it's nice to have something to read when you can't get to the site I agree with bassman31783, those books are awesome, the smallmouth books are great too.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll be sure to check out as many as I can. I know this site is a wealth of knowledge, but i enjoy having a hard copy of something to sit up and read before bed and the such. Im one of the few these days that appreciates a book thats still made of paper.

I know what you mean, if I stay up reading anything 'electronic' before bed, I can't sleep for hours afterward. I've tried using the Nook's, just can't 'read a book' on something like that!

I'm the same, I was given a Kindel, but i just cant read on it, atleast not like I can in a book, I still read newspapers too. Stuck in the past I suppose.

These two books changed they way I fish. Must haves in my opinion.

Thanks guys, I'm going to start with the In-Fisherman Critical Concepts Largemouth Bass books and the other two dealing with large bass huntin.

I got Mike Ike's book for my girlfriends dad for his birthday earlier this evenin, but went ahead and read it tonight, not too much on fishing, but decent book none the less.

Agree with critical concepts from In-Fisherman, and I personally liked v3 the best. I enjoyed Ike's first book (more learning about his journey), and his most recent one may be more useful to you for picking up pointers (fishing heavy with some good info on finesse tactics).

Everybody should read Buck Perry's Guidelines For Fishing Success. Yes, I know it is dated and some of his theories are questionable, but all in all it is IMHO a must read. Part 6 on lake types and part 7 on mapping may be but is relevant. It still amazes me that so many of todays fishermen confuse structure and cover.

His book entitled "Spoonplugging for Bass" is the most important fishing book to ever come down the pike. Should be manditory reading in grade school!

Might want to take a look at KVD's Bass Strategies, if you do buy make sure to get the revised edition.

Admittedly, I am a bit nerdy, but I have gotten most of the books I have read from the public library and kept the pertinent information (author, isbn, etc) to find the book quickly if I ever need to reference it for the future. If I deem the book a must have, then I will buy it.

IB’s Note: Tons of information about the color shift that happens underwater. While it mainly focuses on steelhead and salmon, the knowledge Dr. Kageyama imparts is invaluable for bass anglers too. BTW, there is a bass section that I found most informative. I have become a better angler after reading this book. Make better, more educated selections in your choices for lure colors. This book is now part of my personal library.

Everyone has their favorite books.

And there are books on specific techniques; the bass as an animal; specific baits; and bodies of water.

Overall, I suggest investing in DVDs so you can sit and watch them. Some of the DVDs have corresponding books, too.

Here is my list, in no specific order, with some comments:

1. Knowing Bass, Dr. Keith Jones. Outstanding read on the scientific approach to catching more bass. Very technical but you will lear a lot about the animal and its habits.

2. Anything by Kevin Van Dam. Very interesting information.

3. Denny Brauer's Jig Fishing Secrets. The father of pitching and flipping tells all.

4. A fun read, Ike's Fishing on the Edge. Why is Ike Ike?????

You will have a larger selection of DVDs and you can create your own library for future reference.

Received what I consider (so far) the best bass book I own from the wife at Christmas.

Bob McNally's Complete Book of.....Bass In Depth

Mind you now, I am nine whole months into the bass fishing thing.

Until know I have not read such an understandable description of structure, breaks and break lines.

Plus, how all that relates to depth and the location of bass. I think Mr. McNally's writing style deserves

all the credit. I am really impressed. Wanted to share this with other new to intermediate anglers out there.

Excellent list, simply excellent. The only one that I would add is from Robert Montgomery, "Better Bass Fishing". Much of what he writes seems like conventional wisdom, but it's stuff we just don't think about; it's also a great list of things we should revisit from time to time to get our heads screwed back on. Read that as I use it to get my head screwed on when I'm not fishing well. It's a good analysis book for me. It allows me to sit back and look at my actions objectively, critically and figure out if I did make the best choices. It's been a very good tool for me to utilize.

Secrets of a Champion by KVD. I've read it like 3 or 4 times, it covers just about every aspect of fishing, from catching them to lure customization. And it at the end of everychapter it has a page where you can write notes. Its a pretty cool book.

I have KVDs Bass Strategies, and have gotten halfway through it then I stopped but I plan on picking it back up over the winter. And perhaps several of the suggestions made here will be added to my library.

Another good book is Advanced Bass Fishing. I don't remember the author's name or the ISBN number. It has a lot of good advice.

I agree that Buck Perry's books are a must read and I also like KVD's Bass Strategies.

Fishing on the Edge by Michael Iaconelli. It's great and shows the business and life style side of bass fishing. And it's pretty funny
